Acts 16-18; 1&2 Thessalonians Chapter Summaries

Acts Chapter 16:

Paul had a vision while he was in Macedonian. A vision appeared to Paul in the night,

Macedonian and to help him. Paul was by the city’s riverside, and a woman named Lydia,

a seller of purple. Listened to what Paul was saying and praised God, she was later

baptised. Paul Silas were brought to the magistrates, they wiped and then locked them in

jail. They were kept in the inner prison, they started worshipping God, and God sent an

angel to break them out of jail. The jail door swung open, and they were set free, but

before they left the prison, they lead the guard to the Lord.

Acts Chapter 17:

Paul and Silas came to Thessalonica, and they went to the synagogue of the Jews. Paul

and Silas started preaching to people there, and many of them believed and agreed with

what they were saying. Jason’s House was assaulted, and Paul and Silas travelled to

Berea in the night. They went to the synagogues, they preached to nobles, and they

received the word. But the Jews came and stirred up trouble, and sent them away. Paul

went to Athens, and while he was there the spirit of the Lord stirred him up, and he saw

 the city in idolatry. Also, while Paul was there he talks to the men in Athens, telling them

they are superstitious.

Acts Chapter 18:

Paul leaves Athens and goes to Corinth, and found a Jew named Aquila, and his wife

Priscilla. They always tried to reason with the Jews and Greeks on Sabbath day. Timothy

and Silas came to meet Paul from Macedonia. Paul left the synagogue and entered the

house of a man named Justus. Paul also met a man named Crispus, who was a ruler of the

synagogue. Crispus and other people believed what Paul said, and were all baptised.

Apollos preaches in the synagogue in Ephesus, and Aquila and Priscilla took him and

taught him more about the Lord. Apollos later preached, and many people received the

1 Thessalonians Chapter 1:

Paul wrote to Silvanus, Timotheus, and to the Church of Thessalonians given praise to

God. He told them not to forget their work of faith, a labor of love, and patience of hope

in the Lord. He reminded them that the word came to them not only by word, but by

power, in the holy spirit. He reminded them that the reason that they became believers,

was because they received the word in affliction, and with the joy in the holy spirit. He

reminded them that they are not only sounding a word from the Lord to Macedonia and

Achaia, but also in every place their faith in God is spread around.

1 Thessalonians Chapter 2:

Paul tells Silas and Timothy to be bold in the Lord, and speak of the gospel with much

contention. He also tells them to trust in the gospel, and not use words that are pleasing to

men, but God. He also reminds them that their labour and travail, because they would not

 be able to preach and teach people. They are also told to exhort and comfort is disciples

so that they would walk worthy with God. He tells them to thank God without ceasing

when they receive the word of God. Paul also tells us to Joyful, and give glory to God.

1 Thessalonians Chapter 3:

Timothy a minister of God, wrote a letter to comfort and us concerning the faith. He told

us that no man should be moved by afflictions because Jesus told us that we would suffer

afflictions and tribulations. He also tells us that we should not be tempted, and our labour

should not be in vain. When Timothy came back from his trip, he came back with words

of encouragement, faith and charity. Timothy said we should be comforted by our

affliction and distress by our faith. Timothy also mentioned that he spent night and day

praying and seeking God's face, so that the disciples may have perfect faith.

1 Thessalonians Chapter 4:

Paul tells us that we should walk to please God, that we may all abide more and more.

He also tells us that we should abstain in fornication, but follow the commandments God

has given us all. Paul also tells us not be sad about people who we have known that have

died because we will see them again. We only must believe that Jesus died and rose

again. And that he is coming again, and the Lord will come down from heaven, with a

shout and a voice of angels. And those who are alive will be taken up to heaven, and meet

those that are dead.

 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5:

Paul tells us that we do not know the day or the hour in which the Lord will come. The

Lord will come like a thief when people say there is peace on earth there will soon be

destruction. Like a mother giving birth to her, they shall not escape. He also warns us

about darkness coming like a thief in the night. He mentions as being children of the

light, and the children of the day, and not us being children of the darkness. He also tells

us not to sleep, as others do, but for us to watch and be sober. He encourages us to put on

the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

2 Thessalonians Chapter 1:

Paul writes to Timothy, Silas, and the Church of Thessalonians. Paul greets them, by

saying grace unto them, and peace from God. He tells them that glory in them, and the

church of God for patience and faith. He also tells them that they should endure

persecutions and tribulations. He said this by doing so God will recompense tribulation,

and they should see tribulations as righteous thing. Paul prays that God will count Them

worthy of his calling. And fulfil the all the good pleasure of the goodness and the work of

faith with power. He also prayed that the name of the Lord may be glorified in you, and

in him, according to the grace of the God, and Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians Chapter 3:

Paul tells them to not be shaken in the mind or troubled by the spirit, nor by the

words, nor by letter as you get from us. Let no man deceive you by any means because on

that day man’s sins will be revealed. He also tells them that’s they will destroy the works

 of Satan’s lying signs and wonders. He also tells them that all the deceivableness of the

unrighteous in them will perish, because they have not received the love of the truth, but

had pleasure in unrighteousness. Paul tells them to obtain Christ and to give thanks

always. He also tells them to be steadfast, and hold the traditions which they have been

taught by the word. He also prays that God comforts their hearts, and establish them in

every good work.

2 Thessalonians Chapter 3:
