contact. The graph shows how the temperatures of the blocks change with
time. 60

2. Two objects at different initial temperatures, T 1 and T2 (where T1 >T2 ), are placed in contact. Suppose they have the same
heat capacity C and assume that there is no energy exchange with the surroundings.
(1) Find the temperature at which the objects are in thermal equlibriu m.
(2) Find the amount of heat transferred fro m the hot object.
(3) State the factors that affect the amount of heat transferred.
3. Baba is going to make a bowl of fish ball noodles (Fig b ). The mass of each fish ball is 80g.
(a) Baba puts two fish balls at 2°C into 800 g of water at 20 °C. After a few minutes, he heats the fish-ball-and-water
‘mixture’ over a stove. Take the specific heat capacity of the fish ball as 2400 J kg -1 °C-1 .
(i) What is the temperature of the ‘mixture ’ before it is heated?
(ii) If it takes 5 minutes to heat the ‘mixture ’ up to 90°C, what is the power of the stove?
(b) He then puts 500 g of noodles at 15°C into the water. It takes another 1 minute to heat the ‘mixture’ up to 90 °C
using the same setting. What is the specific heat capacity of the noodles?
