When you have already mastered and satisfied with the result of your finished

households. It is important however, to ensure that the product is appealing, and of
good quality. Customers get easily attracted with the creativeness/artistic effort and
cleanliness of the way the product is presented to the ultimate consumer.

Cutting the costs down is important in order to save money that can be used to buy
other low costs materials. This is an important step because it will affect the costs
of your product and your profit margin. Avoid unnecessary expenses.

Record keeping, packaging and places where you can display/sell the product should
also be considered.

4
What’s New

In marketing finished household linens, we must first know how to make the proper
COSTING. Here’s how you do it. First, add all the cost and expenses incurred in
creating your linen project, then add the percentage of the cost, which is 20 %
standard amount, as your markup price, to come up with your selling price. Below
is the example of getting the Selling Price
1. fabric, needle, thread, packaging etc. P150 – cost

2. P 150 x 0.20 = 30 – mark up price

3. P 150 + 30 = 180- selling price

So now you know how to compute for the COSTING, we will now proceed to one of
the important factors in business and that is RECORD KEEPING, every expense
incurred should be recorded for you to know if you are earning or not. Check your
ledger from time to time. Write down the expenses as it happens. Segregate the
names for each expense. Keep receipts as much as possible for future reference.

Here is an example of Record Keeping

Expense Item Date: October 1 to 0ctober 8

Your product should be well presented creatively /artistically so as to motivate the
buyers. Special PACKAGING keeps the item in good condition, keeps out from dirt
and moisture, while the item is kept in storage/displayed until they are sold.
Common packaging materials are made out of paper, plastic, cardboard, or even
indigenous materials such as local fibers like Sinamay as additional accessory in
packaging. Registered big business may use business name for product labels, by
printing their business name on the packaging material to make it unique and
distinct from other products being sold/displayed in the market.

Here are some different technique and designs for packaging linens.

a. Table Napkin

b. Table Cloth

c. Table Runner

d. Bed Sheet

e. Towel

Here are the examples of different packaging;

Pouch Pack

BOPP Plastic Bag Pack

Aside from selling your product to your relatives, neighbors, friends, and
schoolmates, you can also sell your products to a wider consuming public through
the use of technology. You can create a website for you to display your finished
products to create awareness to the wider public consumer and gain prospective
buyers. Use e-mail or social media and get their telephone number or mobile phone,
to keep in touch. Once you already identified your customers or buyers, who always
patronize your product, you can now join school fairs and bazaars to sell you
products.
