Our team came up with one more extra step for this

SDG 2 Zero Hunger Project.

It is because , in world survey on food studies, it has been estimated that roughly one quarter of food eaten at
home is wasted unnecessarily. Studies also shows that food wastage is commonly happen among us,the
children.

It is a problem and treat to the environmental issues where these food wastage in our surrounding releases a
several amount of methane, a greenhouse gas , which said to be at least 28 times more dangerous than carbon
dioxide.

So, one of the solutions to this challenge is to do recycle and reuse that is composting the food wastage.
Composting is a great way to get a final use out of food. Composting is also nature’s way of recycling. Food
waste is broken down and become food for plants.

Composting is the natural process of decomposition that turns organic materials into natural fertilizers.
The benefits of composting the food wastage are, first , one step to reduce the amount of garbage in our
surroundings. Second, producing our own rich and non-chemical fertilizer.

Actually, home composting is both fun and easy to do and does not need any costs of money.
There are two common methods of composting your food scraps at home. As our project, we’re going to show
both the methods in a simple way.
STEP 1

First method is more suitable if you are

living in a rural area where you own a
garden or a small piece of land
surrounding your house.

First, you need to find a shady , dry

spot in your backyards or gardens that
gets little or no sunlight.
Then, dig a deep hole that’s fit enough
your food wastage daily.
STEP 2

After that, pile the hole with your

garden waste such as dried leaves
and twigs.

Make sure the ratio of the compost is

1/3 ( one third) of food scraps and 2/3
( two third ) of garden waste.
STEP 3
Then add some soil before putting You need to follow the same
in the food scraps. procedure whenever you are
composting your food scraps.
STEP 4

Again put in a layer of soil to

cover the whole food scraps.
STEP 5

Then add some soil before putting in the

food scraps.

Again put in a layer of soil to cover the

whole food scraps.
STEP 6

You need to follow the same

procedure whenever you are
composting your food scraps.

If you want to cover the hole you

can do so. It s to prevent the
unpleasant smell that may
release from it.
STEP 7

Make sure you turn the compost pile

for aeration and spray water regularly.

Finally, monitor the compost until it’s

dark and crumbly.

For a better result, let your compost

for 3 to 4 weeks to become a natural
fertilizer.
