A Day Around Cebu – Travelogue

The article entitled “A day around Cebu- Ft. SSEAYP 42 PY- Travelogue” written by Esther
Phang focuses on the diverse nature or tourist spots in the City of Cebu in the Visayas. Through the
use of words, the travelogue shows how beautiful the beach, churches, environment, and the
culture of the locals in Cebu City. Moreover, the author stated that she doesn't prefer some kind of
activities in Cebu, such as chilling beside the beach, swimming with whales, and island hopping,
which shows that she did not possess bias in the article. Further pieces of information could have
been in the title alone to inform the possible readers about the content of the article. The title of the
article can give essential meaning to several things which are connected to the main point of the
article.

The article content is all about the authors' experience in Cebu. The authors capture my
attention because she portrays and describes Cebu City as a relaxing and exciting place.
Additionally, the content of the article entices me to continue reading. The article's information is
related to the title, which makes the article much more interesting. The main idea or subject of the
article is about the author's memorable journey in Cebu. However, the main idea of the article is not
supported by references, legal bases, evidence, anecdotes, and interviews. The main idea was
supported based on authors and viewpoints, perspective, and experience. With the title and content
of the article, the target readers or audiences are can easily determine. The target readers of the
article are everyone, especially the adventurous person, the people who are fond of traveling in
different places, and the people who have a habit of experiencing different cultures from different
places. The article uses a joyful tone to express how enjoyable Cebu City is. The tone language and
reading level are appropriate for the target readers. The content of the article is organized properly,
readers can easily follow the flow of the topic in the article because it has a well-organized format.

The paragraphs in the article are appropriate in length for the type of information presented.
Each paragraph in the article varies in size or length. Some paragraphs are shorts, but it has a piece
of important information that can get the reader’s attention easily. The different word utilized in the
article is connected to the main idea of the topic. The structure of the article is well-organized that
the target audiences will find easy to understand. The conclusion of the articles summarizes the
main point of the topic. The conclusion that the authors used in her article bring a satisfying end. The
author concludes that her memorable part of her Cebu trip was to be able to catch up with Dolly.
The authors used a phrase that shows the moral lesson of her journey in Cebu. Adding moral lessons
can add some spice to the content and conclusion of the article. However, in the grammar of the
article, some prepositions and pronouns are incorrect. Some punctuations are also missing or the
proper utilization of punctuations is not followed by the author. Even though there is a problem with
grammar or punctuation, as a reader I can easily understand the article content. Moreover, there are
no cliches and dialog presented in the article.

In conclusion, the article shows the authors' experience in Cebu. Even though the articles
have a lot of flaws, just like in the grammar and punctuation, as long as the messages and main idea
in the article are understandable, the readers will easily understand them. Having a well-organized
and well-developed structure on an article provides a good flow of the topic, essential to the
possible readers or audiences. Having audiences or readers is essential because it guides the intent
of the writing and determines how complex or how simple your piece should be. Lastly, considering
the audience and readers can build a greater possibility to understand what you are writing and
makes you a better writer.
