    Answer the following. Avoid erasures.

    1. What are the different environmental theories discussed in this lesson?

    Deep Ecology is a branch of ecological philosophy that considers humanity to be an


    integral part of its environment.

    Social Ecology is a social approach that provides an ecological, reconstructive, and


    community-based view of society. Although advocating direct democracy, this
    philosophy aims to recreate and turn existing viewpoints on both social problems and
    environmental factors.

    Ecofeminism is a movement that sees a connection between the exploitation and


    degradation of the natural world and the subordination and oppression of women.

    2. What is carbon footprint?

    The carbon footprint is the cumulative amount of greenhouse gas emissions resulting
    from the production usage and end-of-life of a service or product. It involves carbon dioxide,
    the gas most frequently emitted by humans, and others, including methane, nitrous oxide, and
    fluorinated gases, which cause global warming.

    3. What is the worldview of the Chinese?

    The ancient Chinese believed that everything in the world has two seemingly opposite
    forces existing in relationship with each other. They called these forces Yin and Yang. The
    quality of our lives and our world's overall well-being depend on opposing tendencies being
    in balance with each other.

    B. Check Your Understanding

    1. Based on your own understanding, compare and contrast the Anthropocentric and
    Ecocentric Models.

    The relationship between the two views and values is based on my understanding that
    both theories value the world and nature. Both have different explanations for their
    importance and the difference between them. This definition focuses for Anthropocentric
    Models on the value of nature in terms of its material wealth or the physical advantages it can
    offer to people. It is the opinion that humanity is the universe's most powerful entity. And the
    Ecocentric Models assert that nature itself is valued. This opinion is that the whole universe
    and life within it, not just those pieces that are useful to individuals, should be valued and
    given priority.

    2. Research about animal rights. In your opinion, do animals deserve respect? Why or why
    not?

    Animals do deserve respect. It is like respecting other humans. If we respect them they
    would also respect us back the same as how we respect them. Animals are also living beings
    that knows how to feel emotions. Being mistreated has one of the worst feeling that a living
    being could have. Animals most be treated by care and respect by doing so it could bring back
    the harmony of nature.

    3. How do you understand the meaning of frugality and prudence toward the environment?
    Cite three examples.

    Frugality and prudence is about making the best use of the materials being use, at the
    same time keeping our environment for the future generation. So it’s more like stopping the
    excessive and careless use of resources in order to preserve and protect our environment.
    Being intelligent and having values are very important not just for ourselves might also be for
    our family and our future generations. We can help accomplish this by:

     Conserving water/electricity
     Proper segregation of garbage
     Joining cleaning the community programs
