A. Read the selection below. Underline each noun and identify its type.
Common/Concrete
Could your dog be depressed? Do dogs even get depressed? Like humans, some dogs
can occasionally suffer from bouts of depression. Although dogs do not have the same capacity
for reasoning as we humans, it does not mean they cannot experience depression. In dogs,
depression is not the same complex clinical disorder that it is in people. However, dogs can
certainly experience depression.
B. Complete the sentence by filling in the blanks with the type of nouns provided. make
sure that you will create a meaningful sentence in each item.
Write your own sentences with the types of noun given; underline all the nouns you
used.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
Adverbs qualify or modify an adjective, verb, or another adverb. These give descriptions
of how, where, in what manner, when, or to what extent an action is performed.

Adverb of Manner
o This explains how an action happens. Commonly, it is placed after the main verb
or after the object.
Danny carefully handed the medicine to his grandparents.
The doctor speaks softly and respectfully to his patients.
Adverb of Place
o This tells where an action took place. Adverbs of place modifies the main verb.
Sheena needs to put the clean-up drive campaign outside.
Here, students with special capabilities are given equal chance to learn.
Note: Adverbs of place functions as a preposition when it is followed by a noun.
