GRADE 10 SSC TCHR. BERNADETTE M. OBEDOZA

LESSON 1 : PLATE TECTONICS THEORY

Evaluation

1. I think it will happen if earth has no tectonic plates the earth's complex terrain, which
affords a diverse range of habitats, would not exist without plate tectonics. Hydrothermal
vents on the ocean floor are also caused by plate tectonics.

2. The plate tectonics theory, the earth's solid outer crust, is divided into plates that move
across the asthenosphere, the molten upper layer of the mantle, according to plate
tectonics theory. Oceanic and continental plates collide, spread apart, and interact at all
of the planet's boundaries.

3. The two types of lithospheric plates are Oceanic Lithosphere and Continental
Lithosphere. Oceanic lithosphere and continental lithosphere are the two forms of
lithosphere. Oceanic lithosphere is slightly denser than continental lithosphere and is
connected with oceanic crust. Tectonic activity is the most well-known aspect of the
earth's lithosphere.

4. Because the theory of plate tectonics regarded as the most important theory ever
developed in the field of geology plate tectonics, which explains how the movement of
geologic plates causes mountain formation, volcanoes, and earthquakes, revolutionized
the earth sciences.

5. The benefits of studying about geology are predicting how earth systems and the
universe will behave. Finding enough natural resources, such as groundwater, petroleum,
and metals. Soil conservation and agricultural productivity are both important. Developing
natural resources in a way that is environmentally friendly.
LESSON 2 : VOLCANISM

Evaluation

1. The movement of tectonic plates as stated in the plate tectonic theory to the formation
of volcano and volcanic activity. Friction and heat are created as plates slide past each
other. Diverging plates form fresh crust material as subducting plates melt into the mantle.
Volcanoes and earthquakes are linked to subducting plates, when one tectonic plate is
pushed beneath another.

2. The diagrams of earth’s tectonic plates and distribution of hotspots. I notice that the
tectonic plate is steadily advancing above the hotspot, which remains rooted to its deep
source of heat. The volcano moves with the plate, and a new one emerges in its stead.
The volcano that shifted is now dormant.

3. The principal settings where volcanism occurs remember that plate borders come in
three examples: convergent, divergent, and transform. Volcanic activity is prevalent at
convergent (subduction zones) and divergent (mid-ocean ridges, continental rifts)
boundaries, but not at transform boundaries.

4. The principal setting contains many volcanoes like the Philippines' volcanoes. I think
so they are formed at the tectonic plate boundary between the Philippines and the
Eurasian plates. Because of the archipelago's frequent severe rains, lahars (mud flows)
are particularly common. Tsunamis occur more frequently in the Philippines than in any
other volcanic location.

5. The zone contains more volcanoes, as the plates pull away from one other, new crust
is formed at divergent boundaries. Convergent borders are where one plate dives
beneath another, destroying the crust. As the plates travel horizontally past one other,
transform barriers where neither crust is generated nor destroyed.

Because the majority of volcanoes are found along plate borders that are either
convergent or divergent. The Pacific Ring of Fire is the world's most active geological
zone. Volcanoes form above hotspots, which are melting zones above mantle plumes,
such as those that generate the Hawaiian islands.

6. The Philippines have many volcanoes because it has a unique geological context that
is conducive to volcanism and earthquakes. It lies at the intersection of two tectonic
plates: the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, both of which subduct or dive
beneath the archipelago via deep trenches along its east and west coasts.
