LYRICAL JAZZ
What to Wear:
Dancers should be dressed in fitted dancewear for Lyrical class. Dance pants, Capri pants,
shorts, and a bodysuit are great options. Dancers may also choose to wear a tank top, half-top
or leotard. Our teachers need to be able to see your body alignment; so tight fitting clothing is a
must. You are welcome to wear bare feet or purchase Dance Paws from the local dance store.
Your hair should also be pulled back into a ponytail for all classes.
Any fitted dancewear is acceptable. Dance pants, Capri pants, shorts, tights, tank tops,
half-tops and leotards.
Properly fitted jazz shoes are required for all jazz classes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Girls are required to wear tan coloured jazz shoes for the end of year
concert. Any brand of tan shoe is acceptable. Boys are required to wear black coloured jazz
shoes for the end of year concert.
Dance paws or bare feet can be worn for all lyrical classes
Black tap shoes for tap classes. Any brand is acceptable.

MUSICAL COMEDY
JAZZ
Most jazz dancers wear tights and a leotard. The tightness of the outfit makes it easier to
perform certain moves. If you are not comfortable with wearing something so tight, you can
look into wearing jazz pants. Jazz pants are similar to sweat pants, except they are lighter and a
little tighter. These pants come in varies lengths and colors.
Other dancers like to wear a simple camisole over a leotard along with a pair of soft shorts. If
you are allowed to wear whatever you want, then make sure you are comfortable. You want to
be able to move freely in whatever you are wearing.
Most teachers prefer you to wear them. However, there are many different styles of these in
the market, so you can get the ones that fit best for you. Jazz shoes are like ballet slippers
except jazz shoes have a small heel. They are normally black or tan in color. They can be found
in full and split-soles.
Jazz: Any style of well-fitting leotard or dance attire. No clothing may be worn to obstruct the
view of the body (i.e. baggy shirts/ pants). Jazz shoes are required.
Latin Jazz: Ballet or Jazz attire acceptable. A short Latin dance skirt may be added. Beginners
should start out wearing jazz shoes. Dancers at an intermediate or advanced Latin Jazz level
will need a ballroom shoe with a low or medium heel.
