1. There are signs present in the surroundings that I consider if it rains or not. There will be
dark clouds, humid surroundings, sudden change of wind, and many more.
2. We need to be aware in our surroundings so we can see and observe signs of impending
event or such change of weather. Being aware of the changes can make us plan our daily
activities more efficient and organized.

The observation of the changes in the surroundings would help to prevent or lessen the negative
effects of hydrometeorological disasters.

Activity 4

1. Manila, Navotas, Malabon, and Marikina

2. These localities may conduct studies on the primary causes of flooding and how to
mitigate and reduce them. They can also launch and conduct awareness programs to the
residents of the said localities.

What I Have Learned

1. For different hydrometeorological risks, the symptoms may differ. Increased ocean swell,
cloud changes, drop in air pressure, change in wind speed, lighting and thunder during
typhoons, and thunderstorms are some of the warning signals. Muddy water, roaring
sounds from upstream, and floating debris in the water are all signs of an imminent
flashflood.
2. Hazard maps identify the areas which would likely be affected with the hazard.
3. Barometer, thermograph, ceiling light projector, clinometer, ceiling balloon, theodolite,
radiosonde, wind finding radar, weather surveillance radar, and doppler radar are some of
the monitoring equipment for hydrometeorological threats.
