Q1) What is Scratch?


ANS) Scratch is a programming language which was developed at MIT Media lab. It helps us create
interactive stories, animations video games music etc. It is very easy to learn and use.

START ALL PROGRAMS SCRATCH FOLDER SCRATCH.

Q2) What is the purpose of Scratch Info Pane Display?

ANS) Scratch Info Pane can be shown by clicking on… i button.


It shows the information about the selected Sprite with
few tools like –
Circular Arrow
Linear Arrow
Disable Rotation

Q3) What do you understand by the term Backdrop?

ANS) A Backdrop is an image that can be shown on the Stage.


Scratch provides 4 options for it-
1. Choose backdrop from the library
2. Paint new backdrop
3. Upload backdrop from file
4. New backdrop from Camera

Q4) What is purpose of Script Area?

ANS) The area on the right side of the project editor where scripts are assembled,
called Script area. It is the place where Blocks from the block palette are dragged into the
Script area, to create a script.
Q5) List the names of different Blocks under the Block Menu.
Ans) Each block performs a specific task. The Blocks are :-
a) Motion
b) Looks
c) Sound
d) Pen
e) Control
f) Variables
g) Operators
h) Sensing

Q6) What are various Cursor Tools?

Ans ) Cursor tools:- They are located at the top of the Scratch window. it has four tools:-

1. Duplicate:- it creates the duplicate copy of the selected Sprite.


2. Delete:- it deletes the selected Sprite
3. Grow:- It increases the size of the sprite
4. Shrink :- it reduces the size of the sprite.

Q1) What is Sprite?

ANS) Scratch projects are made up of objects called Sprites.


Sprite is a small graphic character that performs actions like ok turning , moving ,
play sound etc in a Scratch project. Scratch provides a number of inbuilt sprites.
Cat is the default Sprite in scratch.

Q3) What do you mean by Stage?


It is the main working area where the sprite moves and performs actions as per the
given instructions. Here we can run Scratch projects that we create.
It is divided into x y coordinates. It has-
1. Stage button 2. Green flag 3. Stop button
Q4) What are new Sprite buttons? Explain any two of them.
ANS) They are:-
1. Choose Sprite from library
2. Paint new Sprite:- it opens the costumes window where you can create or
draw a new Sprite.
3. Upload Sprite from file:- It uploads the selected Sprite.
4. New Sprite from camera :- It opens the web camera to click a Sprite .
