Identify the elements of social group influence that you think have
become part of your personality, life style, life choices and goals. Which
of your life philosophies, likes and dislikes are not the products of social
influence, i.e., that are just your own idiosyncrasies?

Writing about how social groups influence our personality traits, lifestyle, life choices and goals is a
complicated task which needs some critical and analytical thinking. To sum up how different social
groups affects us and how deep rooted their influence are is impossible as sometimes the effect
caused by certain amount of people is not recognizable at that instant. But as you evolve with time
that specific influence evolve with you and become a part of you. Following are general observation
that I think have become part of my life because of the different social group:

PRIMARY GROUP: firstly what affect my family, college and university friends are on myself:
Confident (a personality trait that exist due to the trust that my people around give me.)
Modesty ( as being a part of upper middle class family I have raised to dress myself
modestly this has now however become a part of my fashion style.)
Medicine fields as a career (was a choice although made independently but the seed was
sown in my brain by my mother at a very young age that being a doctor and thus serving
humanity is the best thing).
SECONDARY GROUP: so far my school, college and now university is in this group. Main
personality trait influence by this category is to:
Being open minded and liberal (in seeing and understanding different perspectives of life
that has been majorly developed by my time spent in university).
QUASI SOCIAL GROUP: living in a Pakistani state I’ll say that finding your own way with
different methods to solve a problem (referring to the native word used here - “JUGAAR”) is
a key characteristic feature of my life adapted to interact in this social group Moreover
being lazy and fussy is also one of them.
Altogether the social groups in which I live has made me a family oriented person with a
collectivist mindset.

My idiosyncrasies:
Determining that is difficult as nowadays we are globally connected. Every second we are
seeing or participating in something on social media. We are using technology as a source
of information, entertainment and also for contacting other. This has become our life as
well. Being a millennial I am deeply into it so some of the characteristics of my life that I
will be enlisting can be or cannot be solely due to my idiosyncrasies:

 Music (I have a variety of music taste in my personality i.e. I love to listen ghazals
and Bollywood songs at the same time I also love electronic and pop music.)
 Sometimes for certain environments my approach to cope up is often rude or blunt
that is not generally observed within my social structure.
 Coming up with new life hacks
 A fondness toward learning new languages.
 Writing stories about different scenarios.

Of course the above are some of the general examples that I briefly told within myself. But
it is a fact that my goals, life choices, personality, and lifestyle is hugely influenced by the
society in which a small amount of idiosyncrasies revolving around it.
