ART APPRECIATION

1. How can art appreciation move one to respond to the relevant issues of the society?
Give practical way/s you can (as a student) to take action.

The examination and analysis of the art forms to which we are exposed is referred to as
art appreciation. It can be very subjective, depending on an individual's personal tastes and
preferences, or it can be done based on various criteria, such as the piece's design and mastery.
Art appreciation also entails a more in-depth examination of the piece's context, historical
significance, and background, as well as a study of its roots. New trends and styles emerge at a
rapid speed in the world of art. The artist's final goal, however, is to create something that speaks
to the viewer on a personal level and can be understood in a multitude of ways. Art taps into the
subconscious mind and aims to touch each and every individual who encounters it.

For a variety of reasons, art appreciation is incredibly important. It's a good method to
learn about the piece's history and the time period in which it was created. In their work, artists
frequently reflect their own troubles as well as societal challenges. We can better understand
how society functioned then compared to now by examining and placing ourselves in the head of
the artist. On a human level, we can connect with and relate to their concerns. Art is supposed to
elicit thought and discussion among its audience. We delve into our own memories and nostalgia
when we dwell on a work of art, therefore a piece of art signifies something different to everyone
who sees it. Work appreciation facilitates thoughtful dialogue and the understanding that there
are multiple approaches to anything by allowing people to listen to diverse perspectives and
ideas as well as interpretations of the art. For many people, art is meant to express something that
we ourselves feel unable to express or convey. Through its visual medium it evokes feelings of
joy, sadness, anger and pain. That is why art appreciation is so important in bringing that one
final element to complete the work, and that is our interpretation. Our perspective brings the
artwork to life as it changes for every person around it. Art isn't designed to be viewed solely for
its own sake. It is intended to inspire thought by allowing viewers to draw on their own emotions
and personal experiences when seeing it. It is extremely effective in this sense, and it naturally
fosters critical and creative thinking abilities. Many key abilities, such as listening, watching, and
responding to diverse perspectives, are also taught through art.

On a personal note, as a student, I can respond to the relevant issues that society has
through the use of art appreciation in a way of using my knowledge and skills to create a piece

that can reflect and inspire the other people in my community to be a better member of the
society. For example, in the artwork that I will make, I will think of the number one problem of
our community and I will used it as an inspiration or main subject of the artwork that I will
create (let say the topic that I chose is the environmental hazard caused by Covid-19 pandemic) .
In the piece, I will show off the possible outcome if we are not going to follow the safety
protocols that has been implemented to us. In this way, all the people that will see my artwork
will be motivated to follow the protocols because they will see that if we became stubborn, our
current situation may get worse. Surely, this move will not reach all the people in my
community, but will still generate an enormous impact for those individuals that has seen my
artwork.

Before I end this essay, I want you to remember what I will about to say. Art appreciation
and analysis are vital because they help us value art in terms of how it appeals to us and what it
represents to each individual. It digs into the history and background of the art, as well as the
lives of the artists. It allows you to evaluate a work on the basis of design, mastery, and
techniques. Above all, art appreciation promotes thought and analysis, prompting us to go
beyond what meets the eye and to consider the perspectives of others.
