Verbal communication refers

to the use of language to convey information. Verbal

communication skills represent more than speaking abilities—they demonstrate how you deliver
and receive messages in both speaking and written interactions. These skills focus on how you
communicate rather than what you say
Nonverbal communication (NVC) is the transmission of messages or signals through a
nonverbal platform such as eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture, and body
language. ... Today, scholars argue that nonverbal communication can convey more meaning
than verbal communication.
Intentional communication is a style of communicating where both parties get their needs
met. It means communicating in a way that increases the likelihood that both parties truly hear
each other. It has wide application and can be used in every interaction.

Involuntary nonverbal communication gives cues about what one is really thinking or
feeling but may not be expressing in words. ... Involuntary nonverbal facial expression:
Facial expressions of surprise, an involuntary nonverbal expression.

A communication breakdown is defined as a failure to exchange information,

resulting in a lack of communication
He blamed the mistake on a communication breakdown between two members of staff

Language is symbolic in the sense that it consists of a system of arbitrary or conventional

signs. ... No one sign is meaningful by itself, but instead each sign accumulates meaning in
terms of its similarities and differences to other signs. a specialized language dependent
upon the use of symbols for communication and created for the purpose of achieving
greater exactitude, as in symbolic logic or mathematics. ( For example, many bees can use
elaborate dances to tell other bees where the food is, or birds have different songs or
calls to attract mates or broadcast territorial boundaries.)

When linguists say that language is "rule-governed behavior," they mean it has a grammar , or
a set of conventions that organizes its "proper" use. These rules set boundaries around the
meaning of words and dictate how words relate to one other

Syntax is the order or arrangement of words and phrases to form proper sentences
clauses, and phrases. The most basic syntax follows a subject + verb + direct object formula.
That is, "Jillian hit the ball."

Semantics is a branch of linguistics that looks at the meanings of words and language,
including the symbolic use of language. It also refers to the multiple meanings of words as
well. ... Examples of Semantics: A toy block could be called a block, a cube, a toy.
Many systems

Communications has many systems and some of the examples for that are verbal and non. When you
say verbal when you say verbal it is the type of communication in which the way of communicating uses
words or what they say the use of words to convey a message like for example writing a letter or talking
to someone. While non is a kind of communication in which they do not use words even when no words
come out from our mouth we are understood by a person through our body language, sign language, our
expressions, the way we act and the way we get silence.

communication also has what is called inten and uninten. when you say intention it means you are
sending a message to someone because it is necessary and important and you also want to talk to that
someone from the word itself intentional and when we say unintentional it is always a non verbal practice.
you do something you don’t notice that your doing or unconsciously doing. Like for example the way we
look unto someone, the behaviors, physical postures etcetera.

communication breakdown often occurs when reportings, meetings or even from our day today
conversations. Like for example When someone talks to you and ask questions that you don’t have any
idea about it then the communication eventually stop there. Because you cannot reply to the questions.
Also noise is one of the communication breakdown. Lets When the two of you having an intimate
conversation then suddenly there are bughh bang borrr, truck horns and any loud noises then the
conversation will stop because you’ll get curious or wonder what happen. And also bad internet
connection.

Languge is symbolic. Yes it is. Its what they call non verbal communication. Also some of it is a sign
language. a sign also a good example that could demonstrate it. As we can say we always see a sign in
every road or anywhere which doesn’t need a word to explain or to convey the message by the symbols
In it you already unsdersatnd what does it do or that means

of course. words are not enough to convert our feelings or the meaning into something. the word is used
only so that we can express it correctly and be understood by others. Something like the words are no
sense or use or meaningless when there are no people, words wouldn’t mean anythnFor example a
painting. A painting does not simply tells you what’s the meaning behind it but it is based on how the
person convery the message or how she or he understand the painting.

As what ive understand it simply meansthat the one who speak only own the word half because his the
one sending ang asking the question and the other half belongs to the one who receives it because it will
interpret the message you send. In short the word has no meaning unless there is someone there is to
interpret its meaning and that is the receiver
Ang semantika ay ang pag-aaral ng kahulugan sa wika. Maaari itong mailapat sa buong teksto o sa iisang
mga salita. Halimbawa, ang teknolohiyang "patutunguhan" at "huling paghinto" ay nangangahulugang
magkatulad na bagay, ngunit sinusuri ng mga mag-aaral ng semantiko ang kanilang banayad na mga
kahulugan ng kahulugan.

Equivocal means uncertain or ambiguous. If you ask your teacher what's on an upcoming test
and she gives you an equivocal answer, you won't be able to narrow down your studying.
Equivocal is from the Latin aequus, "equal, the same," + vocare, "to call, to speak," and
describes when something is too close to call.
"not clearly understandable" example if I ask you hows you day and then you replied cant
complain.

Relative words are nonspecific descriptive words which only have meaning in relation to
something else. Here are examples of relative words The most common are which, that,
whose, whoever, whomever, who, and whom. In some situations, the words what, when, and
where can also function as relative pronouns.

The main difference between Jargon and Slang is, Jargon is terminology that is used in

relation to a specific activity, profession, group, or event whereas slang is the use of
informal words and expressions that are not considered standard in the speaker’s
dialect or language

Code Eight – Term that means officer needs help immediately

Chick – a young and pretty girl

includes general language and intangible qualities, ideas, or concepts. It is often vague
and open to interpretation. A reader may find it hard to pin down the exact meaning.

What are facts? Facts are statements that are true and can be verified
objectively or proven.
Living things are made up of one or more cells.

Opinions are statements that reflect the views or ideas that people
have about subjects and topics. For example, your friend says that all
ice cream is tasty. This is their opinion, because not everyone may
think the same way, nor can it be proven to be true.
Inferences are based on analysis. They are statements of the unknown based on the known.
They are derived from reason, in other words figured out based on our past experience.
Tom kept to himself at the party, danced only when a girl asked him
Perhaps Tom doesn’t fee comfortable about his dancing ability, or he is shy. That doesn’t mean
he doesn’t like girls.

Emotive language is the deliberate choice of words to elicit emotion (usually to

influence). Ideas can be expressed in a way that is positive or negative or
welcoming or threatening. It all depends on the words selected. Look at this
example:
 The victims were executed in cold blood.
Compare the example above to the one below, which uses non-emotive
words.
 The men were killed.

If someone says something to the effect of, “the answer to that is no,” “I'll answer no to
that,” or “that's a no,” this is an example of an evasive answer. It is much easier to say simply
“no,” rather than adding anything else on to it.
