services and capital within the internal market enact legislation in justice and home
affairs and maintain common policies on trade agriculture, fisheries and regional

DISCUSSION:
International Relation basically means the interaction in the international system. This started on
the Post-World War II era.
In the field of Political Science, International Relations is an interdisciplinary academic field that
tackles and studies relationship between political entities such as Sovereign states, international
governmental organization or international non-governmental organization.
In terms of International relations, there are several institutions that serves as a instrument to
maintain relationship between political entities or political actors, examples of these are United
Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, North Atlantic Treaty Organization or North
Atlantic Alliance, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Association of Southeast Asian Nations,
and European Union.
First is United Nations, it was founded or established after WWII. With all of its 50 founding
member, including the Philippines, the UN charter was drafted on April 25, 1945, adopted on
June 25, 1945 and later on October 24, 1945: United Nations started its operations. As of 2011,
UN has 193 member countries. The organization’s objective is to maintain international peace
and security, protect human rights, develop relations among nation-states. United Nations’
mission is to preserve world peace.
Second is North Atlantic Treaty Organization or North Atlantic Alliance. It was formed on April
4, 1949. It was formed or created by US, Canada and other several Western European nations to
provide collective security against the Soviet Union after the World War II. The organization's
main purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of all its nation-state members by political
and military means. Another purpose of this organization is to defend each other from the
possibility of Soviet Union on taking control of their nation members.
Next is Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It was founded on September 25, 1969. The
Organization of Islamic Cooperation aims to preserve Islamic social and economical values OIC
also promotes solidarity amongst its member states and it upholds international peace and
increased cooperation in social economic cultural and political areas.
Also Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a institution that governs international relation.
ASEAN was founded in August 8 1967. ASEAN is a regional intergovernmental organization
composing 10 countries that promotes international government cooperation Its 10 members
namely: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore,
and Vietnam. It also has two observing states which is Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.
ASEAN facilities political, security, military, educational and sociological integration among its
members and other countries in Asia. ASEAN also aims to accelerate the economic growth
social progress and cultural development of the ASEAN countries.
Lastly, European Union is a political and economic union founded on November 1, 1993 to
promote peace and economic integration among its member European Union was established
with a unified economic and monetary system to be exact the member states of the European
Union uses the currency Euro. European Union was established to promote inclusion and to
combat discrimination. European Union also breakdowns trade barriers and borders between the
union (e.g. A certain member state of European Union doesn't give tariffs on its neighbor country
that is also a member of European Union) And lastly, European Union encourage technological
and scientific integration. European Union aims to ensure the free movement of people goods
services and capital within the internal market and; enact legislations in justice and home affairs;
and maintain common policies on trade.
