NARRATIVE

REPORT
(ON-THE-JOB TRAINING)

Globe Telecom, Inc. is a provider of telecommunications services. The Company
operates mobile, fixed line and broadband networks and provides communications services to
individual customers, small and medium-sized businesses, and corporate and enterprise
clients. Its business segments are Mobile Business, and Fixed Line and Broadband Business.
Its Mobile Business segment includes mobile voice, mobile short message service (SMS),
mobile browsing and value-added services. Its Mobile Business segment offers services to its
mobile subscribers through brands, such as Globe Postpaid, which is involved in the postpaid
market with various plan offerings, and Globe Prepaid and TM, both of which are its prepaid
brands. It also provides its subscribers with mobile payment and remittance services under
the GCash brand. Its Fixed Line and Broadband Business segment includes a range of fixed
line communications services, wired and wireless broadband access, and end-to-end
connectivity solutions.

I started my training last November 7, 2018 in Globe Telecom, Inc. The engineers in
Globe grouped as in a team (field, Customer operation, general administration, and the Pili-
based) based on the result of our exam and after a month rotation will happen. On November
and December, I was assigned first in the field team with my co-trainee with the guidanceof
field operations engineer. The field team visited a BTS and the BSC in Pili with Engr. Medel
Teodoro Peralta. Engr. Ted introduced us to Engr. Jude Reganit who was working inside a
cabin. Engr. Jude had a brief lecture about ODF (Optical Distribution Frame), DWDM
(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and etc. He also gave us a trivia of why the
supply used is -48V. Engr. Ted explain to us the type of Base Transceiver Station and how
they differ from each other. He also showed us the inside of the BSC in Pili and also taught
us how to use the OTDR and gave a short explanation about this. He also elucidated to us
how they create the 48V supply and showed us the battery used to create this. The third floor
and the field team went to Triangulo, Naga City tto visit a BTS with Engr. Amaranto. He
gave us a short explanation about all the equipment inside and outside the cabin. Engr.
Amaranto taught us how to audit using the MS Excel. We traced the cord from one ODF to
another. The trainees also had a lecture with Sir Eric about GSM (Groupe Speciale Mobile)
and its subsystem and the process of call. The field team went to San Vicente, Calabanga
with Engr. Badong for site troubleshooting. Sir Eric taught us how to close a trouble tickets
using the Clarity software. We had a lecture with Sir Eric about the elements found in a cell
site. We also attended the first Christmas Party at Globe Pili organized by the interns
assigned in Pili.
On the month of January, I, together with my team, was assigned in the Customer
Operations with the supervision of Engr. Roel G. San Buenaventura. Together with Sir Roel
and Sir Buddy, we did a Preventive Maintenance (PM) to the equipment. The team cleaned
the equipment with the guidance of Sir Roel and Sir Buddy. Engr. Roel and Engr. Buddy
showed us how to use the SDH Access Tester in 64 Kbps E1 lines. Sir Roel had a brief
lecture about data communication and how the equipment inside that room works. Sir Eric
had a lecture about splicing and demonstrate to us how to splice manually.He also let us try
the method in splicing.
On the month of February, I, together with my team, was assigned in Anayan, Pili
BSC Station with the supervision of Engr. Romanie V. Ignacio. The team did a tower works
(installation) with Engr. Amaranto and Sir Ruben in Pili Capitol Site. The engineer of Power
City, together with Engr. Peralta, had a brief lecture about the equipment (ATS, MDP,
Genset, and FMS) found in the Pili BSC Site. We did a general cleaning in Pili BSC Site with
the Power City engineer. The team went to Bula and Baao with Engr. Romanie Ignacio for a
site inspection. We visited the Triangulo site with Engr. Amaranto to audit the equipment
which is to be disposed.
On the month of March, I, together with my team, was assigned in General
Administration with the supervision of Engr. Anthony Francis L. Laynesa and Engr. Eric O.
Tino. The former gen. admin. group taught us about data processing. We helped the former
3rd floor trainees in finishing the last file given to them by Engr. Layonesa. Engr. Layonesa
gave us the file for the month of February to data process. The team was assigned in closing
trouble tickets.
