Quality Control Responsibilities

Participates in all major quality-related decisions in all phases of business activity.


Oversees the operations and applications of the engineering and statistical technologies of
quality.
Plan, coordinate, direct, and execute qualification activities for fiber laser systems and modules.
Supervising and executing qualification tests in optical fiber systems, modules and single units.
Perform daily testing activities, reporting, and communications.
Lead ongoing qualification and reliability activities with a focus on monitoring, metrics, and
manufacturability.
Collaborate with various functions to drive corrective actions on complex quality issues.
Drive and monitor quality improvements in product lines and coordinate with engineering
development.
Develop and incorporate appropriate disciplines and processes to design for qualification,
maintain and improve reliability benchmarks.
Failure analysis, root cause and corrective action efforts with connection to the assembly
procedures and proper handling of parts and materials.
Perform examination and evaluation of purchased parts and materials to corroborate their
acceptance as per current specifications.
Train production personnel as required in quality procedures and processes.

Packaging and Mechanical Parts Design Responsibilities

Design, detail and develop optoelectronic packages, modules and subassemblies


Respond to internal or external customer needs with a structured design approach that responds
to customer requirements and develops associated product detailed requirements
Assure all aspects of the requirements are in the design of optoelectronic packages, modules and
subassemblies
Insure parts have appropriate tolerances and are producible, parts meet structural and thermal
requirements and compatible with the optical and electronic aspects of the design
Integration of optical and electromechanical components with exterior package and electronic
components.
Design, detail and develop fixtures, tooling and equipment required for the assembly of
optoelectronic packages, modules and subassemblies
Assemble, integrate and commission tools, fixtures and equipment
Build, test, analyze and debug prototypes and pre-production parts
Conduct necessary qualification of designs and parts
Document designs, processes, procedures, and inspection requirements
Transfer designs, processes and procedures to manufacturing as required
Train production personnel as required in designs, equipment, processes and procedures

Purchasing and Stock Control Responsibilities

Material Planning
Establish and use systems to identify & track material and parts to ensure timely ordering and
stocking to prevent production line stoppages
Create and maintain material Inventory Item database, including: part numbers, pricing, lead-
time, etc.
Analyze material usage and employ the most cost efficient methods to plan, purchase, and utilize
materials, including consideration of all incurred charges.
Perform scheduled material inventory count and update master material list as necessary.
Purchasing/Material Control
Procure materials, shop supplies, tools, samples, maintenance/repair items, and other items as
needed.
Follow-up on open purchase orders and back orders to ensure material delivery per required
schedules.
Negotiate w/ suppliers to obtain best cost/value
Review delivery receipts and POs to make sure price, quantity and delivery dates match.
Maintain purchasing and material history records and update appropriately.
Establish multiple sources for all materials and supplies, whenever possible.

REQUIREMENTS
• Qualifications:
• Masters degree or higher in engineering or physics with industrial experience.
• Strong background in opto-mechanical engineering.
• Proven project management skills with participation in cutting-edge product
development from concept design through product performance testing.
• Strong optical and mechanical designs for packaging of precision optical elements
for high power diode lasers.
• Proven ability to analyze, design, support fabrication and testing of high power
diode laser assembly.
• Ability to plan and monitor the execution of small to moderate teams of
technicians, design and drafting personnel to successful cost technical and
schedule performance to plan.
• Proficient in mechanical design using CAD software such as Solidworks or
similar packages. FEA experience a plus
• Hands-on skill with the ability to rapidly build designs or modifications from
concept to desktop to reality. Debug and resolve issues along the way
• Industrial experience preferred (e.g, background in fine mechanics, micro/opto-
electronics, military, laser, or semiconductor capital equipment industries).
• Experience with lasers, electronics, optics, and athermal design
• Project management skills with ability to plan activities and monitor execution
with small teams to in a gate-driven development process
Principle Duties & Responsibilities

1. Set up and maintenance of manual, semi automated and automated die bonding,
soldering & packaging processes according to process
2. Set up, control, documentation, maintenance and optimization of production equipment
in cooperation with development, using Statistical Process Control (SPC).
3. Assurance of high product performance, output and quality.
4. Participate in process development and improvement
5. Support incoming goods inspection.
6. Training, guidance and technical supervision of production technicians.

Process development
Communicating with customers and suppliers
Work with purchasing department to specify and procure necessary piece parts, jigs,
tools, equipment and outside services

· Design and develop test methods, processes, software and hardware for optoelectronic
packages, modules and subassemblies, automating wherever possible

· Identify, design and develop interfaces, fixtures, tooling and equipment required for the testing of
optoelectronic packages, modules and subassemblies

· Working with Purchasing, specify and procure necessary materials, circuit boards, fixtures,
tools, equipment and outside services to create test solutions for the company’s products

· Assemble, integrate and commission test hardware, software, fixtures and equipment

· Conduct necessary qualification of test hardware and software using industry standard methods
and protocols

· Document software and hardware designs, interfaces, processes and procedures

· Transfer designs, processes and procedures to manufacturing as required

· Create work instructions, train Production personnel as required in the use of test hardware, test
software, processes and procedures

· Other duties as assigned which may include
