Experiment: To find the radius of gyration of a JHARANA (used in Kitchen)

Plan: (a) Find CM (Centre of Mass). You can balance the Jharana on a pointed tip.

(b) Suspend the Jharana from a hole and oscillate it in a vertical plane. Measure the time period.

I
T =2 π ❑
√ mg d

Measure d, the distance between the CM and the point of suspension.

Get the radius of gyration

k =❑√ I / m

Do it for the top hole and the hole in the handle.

(c) Dimension of the Jharana

Measure the total length, diameter of the disk, diameter of the hole, average width of the handle.
Describe the percentage uncertainty in each.
