Chapter 8 Conclusion

This paper discusses the issues facing Philippine Airlines in its ever evolving and
changing landscape in the domestic, regional and international markets. The Philippine
aviation industry had its safety status downgraded to Category 2 for six years by the
International Civil Aviation Organization and the US Federal Aviation Administration.
This downgrading of the status severely limited Philippine Airlines from expanding
internationally, but its reinstatement provides huge opportunities for the incumbent.
However, in the domestic and regional markets it faces a threat from rapidly
encroaching low-cost carriers. The Philippines has the highest domestic low-cost carrier
penetration rate in the world, while the incumbent has rebranded its low-cost
subsidiary, AirPhil, to a full-service carrier, PAL Express, which has impacted its ability
to compete in short-haul markets. Philippine Airlines' new routes to the Middle East and
Europe have the potential to be profitable, but their success is hampered by the lack of
domestic connectivity and no feeder traffic from partner airlines.

Our recommended strategy for Philippine Airlines is Product development strategy

this includes providing more services to attract the customer as well as improving the
products and services that they offer to gain more profit and to satisfy the customers.
Many airline companies offer lower fares to gather customers. We suggest that PAL
focus on differentiation by making their customers experience the “class” of flying to
remind them the pleasure of taking flight in the skies. This strategy will require
extensive employee training in proper etiquette and quality service, to ensure the
portrayed brand image lines up with the experience of customers. Second to our
priority is increasing the number of salespersons, increasing advertising expenditures,
offering extensive sales promotion items, or increasing publicity efforts to enhance
market share especially for the local flights.

Ano ang mangyayari kung hindi maabot and 2030 climate change deadline? And answer
the following

questions based on the video:

1. What is the essence of recycling to our Mother Earth? Its impact and relevance? (100
words)

- We all know that global warming nowadays are increasing and the first and number
one source of it is the negligence of humanity in terms of caring our Mother Earth, our
act of carelessness and selfish desires to live our life leads that leads to create tons and
tons of garbage which become a number one problem of every country. Our garbage
we make every day is highly increasing and as these garbage increases, the more
damaging it gets to our planet. Every day we consume plastic, we cut down trees, we
uses products and have a lots of garbage, and no one’s dealing with it. No one has ever
think to decrease the use of our garbage instead of creating a lot of it. This is where
recycling shows its essence, how this kind of simple act can create a huge impact to
this world. By recycling we are able to reduce the numbers of garbage we make every
day, we save animals, ourselves as well as our Mother Earth too. The damage we
created is already done, we are already experiencing the revenge of it, global warming,
more storms and polluted environment, what more we could ask? Recycling is a
solution to this problem, it is important as our lives because not a sing life depends on
it. Living this world which affects our surroundings as well as its resources is inevitable,
but one thing we can do is to recycle, from simply using tumblers instead of plastic
cups and straws, using eco bag and re usable tupperware. This will not just make you
cool for loving our planet but unknowingly you will also promote it. Recycling is
essential to the survival of humanity in this planet, and we should start practicing it.
2. As a student, what are the things you may do for you to save our planet from the
existing global warming and climate change that may cause an continous increasing of
the global temperature? (300 words)

- As a student, I will use my edge in promoting saving our planet and support
organizations in reducing the global warming, as a student living in this generation, we
tend to use technology as our primary weapon in every battle we had. The school
works, soc-med issues, and everything we think that is a fight, we always had
technology on our side, and now we are experiencing global warming and climate
change, I will use technology to give awareness that we are failing to save this planet.
Using technology, I will give awareness to every human in this world that our planet
needs help, using different social media accounts, I can reach a lot of people and create
trends to bring awareness to humanity. Using technology I can also support
organizations that are promoting to save this planet and share their advocacies to every
human I can reach. Having different social media platforms with different features
nowadays is also advantage, for I can use it to create petition in protecting this planet
and create change while we still can. As a student this is the only thing I can do, given
that my priorities are my academics and I do lack of financial support, but I believe that
this simple gesture can create huge impact and little by little this will show
improvement that we humans are capable to change and care to our surroundings.
Using my edge which is the technology and the social media, I will be able to
encourage people to take care of our planet and start living a life with care and
protection to this planet we are currently moving. This might be a simple act but I do
believe that simple actions is the beginning of huge impact, if we will start this simple
actions today, tomorrow will be our chance to stop global warming, fix climate change,
and save our Mother Earth from the destruction we all make in the first place.
3. If you will become one of the powerful leaders in the world kindly set a certain rules,
policies and punishments for the violations committed by those people not following the
laws in order to save our planet.( cite 10 rules and policies with penalties)

1. Enhanced rule in improper waste disposal

Every individual who will caught disposing garbage improperly will be arrested and will
suffer for 3 months of community service or 6 months of imprisonment. No fine for
every penalties because is not a pass or excuse to violate a rule.

2. Environment friendly transportation are the only transportation allowed.

As a leader I will use my power to promote environment friendly transportation, every

vehicles that emits a lot of smoke and pollution will be prohibited. Every individual who
will be caught using vehicles that violates the law will serve 9 months of community
service and the vehicle will be confiscated.

3. Using re usable products will be mandatory.

In every purchase, re usable products should be used such as ; eco bags, tumblers, re
usable straws etc. every store who will allow using non re usable products will be closed
temporarily and all the individuals involved in the violated rule will serve 4 months of
community service.

4. Promoting a clean community

Every community should create a healthy and environment friendly community. Every
community whom will violate the law will face trial in court and leaders would end up
bee suspended as a violation.
 5. Mandatory planting

Every household is required to do planting in order to create a living nature community,

violators of this rule will receive community service for at least 3 months.

6. Conserving of water rule

Every community should know how to conserve water, and in every month, 1 day will
be assigned on each community to give limited water to conserve it. This rule is
applicable to every community and those who will violate it will experience a week with
limited water as a penalty.

7. Prohibiting destructive chemical products.

Destructive chemical products will be permanently banned in every market and malls.
Every malls or market facilities who will caught selling destructive chemical products will
be closed as a penalty.

8. Every individual must attend seminars or education related about safe living
provided by the government. Every individual who will not be able to attend the given
seminar will have to attend the seminar twice as scheduled as a penalty.

9. Enhanced anti illegal logging activity

Every company and even individual who will caught illegal logging will be sentenced to
prison for 1 year without any trial. This is how enhanced this rule is so that everyone
must obey.

10. Enhanced littering rule

This may be a simple gesture but just like what I’ve said, simple gestures leads to huge
impact so even simple littering will be an act of violation and will be penalty by serving
1 year of community service, to serve as warning and example, to anyone who will
carelessly destroy our environment.
4. Aside from recycling slippers, papers and other waste, think another materials
needed for recycling and explain the cause and effect to our human nature.

- Aside from the given materials, I think wire is a material we should consider recycling
too. Wire is a material present in our common product that become garbage nowadays,
earphones, charger, power bank, chords and every electronic gadgets has wires on it,
and as we dump those technologies we also dump its wires which I think can be
recycled. Wires can be used as rope or designs or even an art work, some artists used
wires an art material to create such a masterpiece which is really outstanding. Recycling
wires will allow every individual to reduce their garbage as well as use their creative
minds to use wires again for an art work or anything it could be used of again.

5. If the climate change does not have a solution before 2030, it is very difficult for us
to go back the real nature from the past. As a civilian individual, what are you major
contributions just to avoid 1.5C of temperature in our global nature? (100 words)

- As far as I know that noise pollution is a major source of increase of temperature, I

will do my best to avoid being noisy and reduce the noise I create. As result of global
warming wherein our ozone layer depletes layer by layer, the temperature we are
experiencing is continuously increasing and there is nothing we can do about it. The
irreversible effect of global warming is truly inevitable and for us to help our planet is to
reduce its affect on us. And in my own knowledge I think I can help it through reducing
the noise pollution in our environment, avoid using horn in heavy traffic, a loud engine
of vehicle or any machine, and having a loud sound during parties, aside from the calm
ambiance it would result and a quiet place we can all enjoy, it would also help reduce
the noise pollution around us reduce the temperature in our environment.
