Globalization A World
Without Alternatives?
INTRODUCTION:
In this research paper Upendra Baxi talks about
different phases of globalization how the world
shifted from globalism to globalization. Globalism
is nothing but belief that people, information and
goods should be able to cross national border
unrestrictedly. So basically globalism is an
ideology or principle behind globalization.
Furthermore U Baxi talks about changes in the
rights of the people.
SUMMARY:
The institutions such as Tiruchelvam Associates
and International Centre For Ethic Studies (ICES)
are successful in developing understanding of
crises of ethnicity as well as of nation-states and
to share languages of rights and responsibility of
states and people in the domain of ethnic studies.
U Baxi marked the decade as the struggle against
the creation of new minorities like women victims
of custodial violence in post-mathura era of indian
states and law or an MIC constituted community of
suffering named as Bhopal victims. According to U
Baxi both national and international communitees
should join the hands in the formation of powers
which will create genuine normative for minority
rights. This will not only help the minorities today
but in future as well. U Baxi salutes ICES for its
effects which makes the struggle for minority
rights which makes the foundation for the whole
system of human rights movements. There are
three phases of globalization. The first phase is
accomplished by colonial imperialism. The second
phase is marked by human rights and international
justice. The third phase is running concurrent with
the second the third world and the emergence of
the United Nations acted as the prime weapons for
weak. The second phase is marked by the
transparency of new cultures. U Baxi Named the
second phase as globalism. The inaugural of
Universal Declaration of Human Rights not only
protect but promote basic human rights.
Furthermore in the mid-eighties globalization
appeared as a description of values that take real
world of five million people as an object of
concern, the whole earth as an physical
environment where everyone is living as
consumers and produces with common interest to
solve global problems. Globalism has also received
a massive setback after the incoherence of
American economy, with billions of dollars deficit.
The hardest task today is how to stop the state
away from globalism is the very agenda of human
rights today.
CONCLUSION:
According to Upendra Baxi A new world
imperialism is in the making of globalization if we
have to fight the historically collection of
strategies is furnished by globalism. In the end U
Baxi believes that International Centre For Ethnic
Studies(ICES) will rearticulate the spirit of
globalism.
