OFFICE INTO HEAD POST OFFICE AI{D BIFURCATION OF
HEAD POSI OFFICE

1. Each district should have a head post olficc providcd a minimum of 20 sub
post officcs can bc attached to it. In thc casc of backward areas or placcs
whcrc thcre will bc a definite improvemcnt in financing sub post
offices/branch post offices, a lowcr standard may be adopted, subject to the
approval of tJ'c Directoratc.

2. If thcre is no I{O in a district , opening of HO can be considered, if at least 2O

SOs in the same district can bc attached with advantage, to the proposed t{O
irrespcctive of thc fact whethcr parcnt HO has 6O SOs or not. It has, however,
to bc cnsurcd that such up gradation docs not bring thc number of SOs in
account with rcsiduary HO bclow 20.

3. An existing HO should bc bifurcated, if the numbcr of sub oflices attached to

it excceds 60. It should howevcr, be ensurcd that as a rcsult of the change
ncithcr thc new nor old IIO has lcss than 20 sub offrces attachcd to it.
