Motorcycle displace cars

In Colombia, with almost 50 million inhabitants has a fleet of 14,486,716 vehicles, of
which 8,313,954 are motorcycles, with 57% of market share, according to the latest figures
2018, informed by the Colombian RUNT’s National Single Transit Registry. Indeed, last year,
810,938 new vehicles were registered, of which 546,963 representing 67% were motorcycles,
followed by 140,058 automobiles which accounted for 17% and the rest corresponds to
trucks, pick up and buses (16%).

The largest number of motorcycles are founded in Bogotá, followed by Envigado,

Girón Sabaneta and Cali. On average, there is one motorcycle for every 5 people living in
the country.

Colombians prefers choosing a motorcycle over other vehicles, due to the increase of
purchasing power in the medium class and the effort to find new alternative of independent
job, such as deliveryman. Another reason is that Motorcycles are considered easy and fast
means of transport to the university or workplace, in order to avoid the traffic and to save
time.

Motorcycles are becoming part of Colombian´s

lifestyle, since the country has been chosen as a production
hub by several Asian manufacturers. The sector has
been developing rapidly, and related products such as
accessories, equipment and clothing are also necessary,
specially, good quality safety equipment. According to
some local newspapers, more than 600 motorcyclists
passed away in traffic accidents within this year,
corresponding to 47% of total vehicles accidents
