1. Optimize Name for SEO

Put essential keywords in the name section of your Instagram so you can easily be
found on search, even if people aren’t searching for your name.

For example: If you are a photographer wanting more local business, change to
“LA Photographer” or better yet, niche down to reduce the search competition and
make it “LA Baby Photographer” if that’s what you do!

Disclaimer: This doesn’t guarantee you will show up for everyone, but it increases
the chances of you showing up to people who have mutual followers to you!

2. Have a CLEAR IG Bio

Similar to how recruiters only look at your resume for 10 seconds before
deciding if they want to interview you, your IG profile visitors are only
scanning your profile for a few seconds.

Having a clear IG bio will make it clear for them on whether or not they want
to keep checking you out, or better yet, follow you!

3. Optimize Link in Bio
Include a link for people to get to know you better beyond just Instagram to
build know, like, and trust. For example:

Link people directly to your website where Use a service like Linktree, Campsite.bio or
they can learn more about you, another better yet make your own multi page link. This
platform such as Podcast or Youtube, or is where you can embed more than one link so
better yet, a sales page or lead magnet you can send people to different places and

4. Evergreen Story
Highlights

If you’re spending all your energy being on Instagram stories, you need to
make sure that effort pays off even when you’re not posting.

The BEST way to keep your most strategic stories alive is to save your stories
as highlights. But be careful! You don’t (and shouldn’t) be saving ALL of them.

5. Shareable Content

Create content on Instagram that prompts people to want to re-share it to


their stories or send it to their friends so you can maximize reach.

Quote posts
You'll be surprised by how well these perform. A single one liner can go a
long way when it's inspirational, calls out an unspoken truth, funny, or is
educational.
Carousels
Make your content digestible by splitting it into a carousel. See below
some of my examples:
Caption Carousel
Graphic Carousel
Photo Carousel
IGTVs
Add dimension to your feed by incorporating rich media via IGTV so your
followers can get to know you even more, beyond just 24 hour only IG
stories. These are easily shareable when educational or entertaining.

IG Reels
Master 15 second short form content that is perfect to reshare by other
people on IG stories. They are easy and fun to make, and definitely worth
the effort!

6. Diversify Hashtags

Do not just use the most popular hashtags like #girlboss which has over
13.8M posts to date. Instead, add niche hashtags that have under <500K
posts so it's easier for your post to be found when people search that tag.

Remember, the larger the tag, the more popular it is. But popular doesn't
always mean effective!

7. Rotate Hashtags

Rotate your hashtags every time you post. DO NOT use the same ones over
and over again or Instagram may think you are spamming!

A HUGE piece of advice I have is to create multiple hashtag groups that you
recycle.

The more variety in hashtags you use per post the better. It’s good because
you’re mixing up the people you’re reaching and therefore expanding your
overall reach.

8. Community Engagement

3 Types of accounts you should be engaging with on a weekly basis to increase


your reach and to maximize the Instagram algorithm:

01 People who follow you

Retention is important! Engage back with those who


interact with you to show you see them and you
care. Best part? Every time you reply back to them, it
helps your posts get seen since IG will see that you
have a relationship with them.

02 People with similar


accounts to you

Get in front of other people's audiences, especially


accounts that you know also have your ideal
audience that would be interested in your content,
too! Comment on their posts, and engage with their
followers in a friendly, value-based way.

03 Content on hashtags
within your niche

Follow hashtags within your niche so your feed can


show other people's content that you don't
necessarily follow. This way you can maximize your
exposure while also staying focused within your
niche.

9. Instagram Reels

Leverage short form video to captivate your audience. These are fun and easy
to make, and are incredible with stopping the scroll while also promoting
social sharing.

Add a CTA
Add a call to action at the end of
every reel to encourage your
audience to take action

Value-based Caption
Created added value by writing a
value-based caption so there's
more than just a 15-30 second
video.

Keep to 15 seconds
15 second reels perform better
than 30 seconds because it is
perfect to reshare in an IG story
and is great for those with lower
attention span.

Leverage Tiktok
Get double return for your effort
easily by repurposing your reels to
Tiktok so you can explode your
visibility. Make sure to link your
Instagram in your Tiktok profile to
get more IG followers, too!

10. Understand the IG
Algorithm

Want to know exactly how the IG algorithm works so you can be more
strategic? Here's your answer:
