6550 1907 Buescher signs an agreement with the Metal Polishers & Platers Union in late 1906 and in an ad for
their new model 7 cornet in January says that all instruments will be marked with the union stamp.
They also say that there was a severe economic depression in 1907 that all but shut down the factory
for a while then they gradually recovered to a four day work week by the end of the year.

strike. The band instrument industry was thrown into disorder and the strikes continued into 1917

296159 Earliest 400 Sax at saxophone.org – Buescher said in 1944 that “only a few” were sold before Pearl Harbor
on 12-7-1941 yet that puts this list two years off. This does not fit with the above range for trumpets and
cornets with the “Pat Apld For” mark ending in late 1938 at around 293000. I will have to assume for now
that the 400 saxophones came out at the same time as the trumpets, or soon after, and were produced for
two years before production was halted. The government bought the remaining stock and ordered some more
during the war but aside from this, production was halted.
