Activity 7. 1. Identifying Possible Sources of Action research Proposal Title

Enumerate five (5) possible sources of problems that can be solved by research.

1. Person Experience
2. Practical Experience
3. Critical Experience
4. Previous research
5. Social Issues

Activity 7.2. You will be required to do some research from the different websites or sources
(except Wikipedia) to do the following:

A. Give three (3) goals of Action-Based Research:

No. Goals of Action-Based Research Source/ Link:

1 To create a simple, practical, repeatable process https://www.edglossary.org/acti

of iterative learning, evaluation, and on-research/
improvement that leads to increasingly better
results for schools, teachers, or programs.

B. Based from the possible sources of problems, enumerate the top five (5) pressing problems
that you have encountered, observed, or experienced during your Field Study exposure:

1. Person experience
❖ A researcher's day-to-day personal experience may serve as a good source of ideas for
developing a research problem. For example, a researcher observed domestic violence
suffered by wives of alcoholic husbands. This experience may provide ideas to identify
several research problems related to domestic violence against women. There may be so
many such life experiences of a researcher which could be used to develop a research
problem.

2. Practical experience
❖ From their clinical experiences, nurses get plenty of ideas to formulate research problems.
Every curious nurse has several questions to be answered that are encountered during
clinical experience.

3. Critical appraisal of literature

❖ When we critically study books and articles relating to the subject of our interest, including
research reports, opinion articles, and summaries of clinical issues, pertinent questions
may arise in our minds. These may strike the reader's mind indirectly by stimulating
imagination and directly by stating what additional research is needed.

4. Previous research
❖ A body of knowledge should be developed on a sound foundation of re-search findings.
Usually, at the end of a research project, further research problems are suggested, based
on the shortcomings of previous research, which can be investigated.
5. Social issues
❖ Sometimes, topics are suggested by more global contemporary social or political issues of
relevance to the health care community.

1. What should be considered in writing a good title for an action research?

❖ First, it should predict the content of the action research paper, which means that the title
needs to reflect the overall content of the research paper because readers use it to decide
whether they should read the full text or not. The title is considered a "teaser," with a
catchy beginning that forces the reader to read on in order to find out what happens next.
Secondly, it should be interesting to the readers. Why? Well, it is a fact of research writing
that readers may find the answers within a few paragraphs of reading. Therefore, if readers
do not find out what is happening in the mind of the researcher within those first few
paragraphs, they will simply stop reading and not read on. Thirdly, the title should reflect
the tone of the writing. It is needed in order to show that the writer is in control of the
writing process and is sure of what he or she is saying and doing. It also defines the
purpose of the research paper. Lastly, the title should contain important keywords that will
make it easier to locate during keyword search, making it both searchable and more
noticeable. It is also a notice in order to let readers know what the research paper is all
about. In that case, it is important not to stuff the title with too many keywords because
the readers will have difficulty finding their way through the lengthy title.
In conclusion, a good title for action research should be both interesting and informative,
with appropriate keywords. It should not be too long or too short, but simply capture the
essence of the paper and make the reader want to read on.

2. How will you write a good introduction?

❖ To write a good introduction, one must know the subject, know their audience, and have
a plan. It is best to prepare at least 2-3 sentences that will capture the attention of your
reader and articulate your purpose for writing. It is also wise to mention any interesting
facts about what you are about to write about. When planning an introduction, you must
remember that the introduction should be more than just words. This is because the
introduction includes your tone, your style, and your appeal to the reader. Put into
perspective, this is like an opening sales pitch, except it is for a piece of writing. It is
important to remember that the introduction is the very first impression that you will have
on your reader. This impression will essentially tell them what to expect for the rest of the
reading.
In conclusion, it is important for writers to remember that their introduction should be
more than just words. It is the very first impression that you will have on your reader. This
impression will essentially tell them what to expect for the rest of the reading.

3. What is the importance of the statement of the problem?

❖ The statement of the problem is important because it identifies an objective and provides
a definition of it. It is also important to be clear about what the situation is that you are
trying to solve. The statement of the problem also shows how much information you have
gathered and provides a definition for the variables involved in your study.

Reflect on the following:

A. If you will write your own action research based from your Field Study experiences and
exposures, what will be your top three (3) objectives:

1. To determine the level of academic performance of the students in terms of utilizing

Interactive Online Learning Tools in the 3rd quarter this school year 2021-2022;
2. To determine teacher’s level of implementation of online learning tools in the teaching and
learning process in the 3rd quarter this school year 2021-2022; and,
3. To know if there a significant difference between the level of the academic performance of
the students after the implementation utilizing interactive online learning tools.

B. What will be your key variables of the study, method of measurement and the unit of
measurement:

implementation of the usage of Interactive Online Learning Tools in the teaching and
learning process.

10. Data Analysis:

❖ The performance level of the respondents shows that they are lagging behind in terms of
utilizing interactive online learning tools, which are identified through the use of frequency,
percentage distributions, quality, and importance. On the other hand, to compute the
significant difference in the level of performance of the learners that are lagging behind in
utilizing interactive online learning tools is based on the test result that was made by the
researchers. The statistical test that the study utilized is the Likert scale, since the data
was obtained through Google Form. The Likert scale is a five (or seven) point scale that is
used to allow the individual to express how much they agree or disagree with a particular
statement (McLeod, 2019), which is suitable in this study. Furthermore, a Likert scale
assumes that the strength or intensity of an attitude is linear, i.e., on a continuum from
strongly agreeing to strongly disagreeing, and makes the assumption that attitudes can be
measured. Likert scales can measure other variations such as frequency, quality,
importance, and likelihood, etc.
The study started in December 2021 and ended in May 2021, covering the second and
third quarters.
