WHAT IT IS
Computer engineering is the branch of engineering that integrates electronic engineering with
computer sciences. Computer engineers design and develop computer systems and other
technological devices. Usual tasks involving computer engineers include writing software and
firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors,
designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Computer engineers
are also suited for robotics research, which relies heavily on using digital systems to control
and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors. In many institutions
of higher learning, computer engineering students are allowed to choose areas of in-depth
study in their junior and senior year because the full breadth of knowledge used in the design
and application of computers is beyond the scope of an undergraduate degree.
WHAT DO THEY DO
Computer hardware engineers "research, design, develop and test computer systems and
components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks and routers.
Computer hardware includes:
microprocessors;
memory chips: random-access memory (RAM)
data storage devices: hard disks
input devices: keyboards, mice, joysticks and gaming controllers microphones,
output devices: printers, monitors, audio devices and remote controls
networking components: adapters and routers.
SALARY
According to a website Salary.com, as of July 2014, the salary range for a newly graduated
computer software engineer with a bachelor's degree was $48,688 to $77,138. The range for a
midlevel engineer with a master's degree and five to 10 years of experience was $73,631 to
$109,108, and the range for a senior engineer with a master's degree or doctorate and
more than 15 years of experience was $98,626 to $145,287. Many experienced engineers with
advanced degrees are promoted to management positions or start their own businesses, where
they can earn even more.
TYPES
There are many types of computer engineering but today i'll only talk about 3 of them. They
are some of the most popular computer engineering degree's specialties.
SUMMARY
So to sum-up computer engineers design and develop computer systems and other
technological devices. There are two mayor branches of engineering and that is software
development and hardwere enginereeing .There are also 3 more popular types of computer
engineering and they are the hardware engineer, software engineer and computer
architecture and robotics. It's also a very high paid job but you also must have certain degree
of knowladge.
