ACTIVITY 2

SMART WINDOW

I. INTRODUCTION

Smart window is a window mechanism controlled by smart

function. It reacted to the stimulus of light, it opens in the

presence of light and closes in the absence of light thus

giving us an automatic effect. Another feature is the manual

mode wherein just press the button and it will give the same

effect disregardig the stimulus of light. In the field of

development, it is a great invention, a great help to humankind

giving home a harmonious and decorative advantages. Due to its

heighten sensitivity, it can serve as a radar if anybody’s home

and electricity friendly since it shut down on its own.

II. MATERIALS

 1 pieces Arduino UNO R3 Board with USB Cable

 1 piece Breadboard

 2 pieces Pushbutton

 1 pieces Light Dependent Resistor

 3 pieces 10K Ohm Resistor

 2 pieces LED

 2 pieces 220 Ohm Resistor

 1 piece LCD with I2C

 1 piece Servo Motor (180 degree)

 17 pieces Jumper Wire

 1 piece House Prototype made of Plywood

III. PROCEDURES

//connect a 5 volts supply and ground to the breadboard

//put two pushbuttons on the breadboard with both 10K ohm

resistors connected to the digital pin and ground as well as

to the 5 volts supply of the arduino board

//put light dependent resistor on the breadboard with 10k

ohm resistor connected to the analog pin and ground as well

as to the 5 volts supply of the arduino board

//put two led on the breadboard with both 220-ohm resistor

connected to the digital pin and ground as well as to the 5

volts supply of the arduino board

//connect the servo motor to the 5 volts supply and ground

as well as to the pulse with modulation pin of the arduino

board

//connect the I2C of the LCD to the 5 volts supply and

ground. The SDA of the I2C must be connected to the analog

A4 pin and the SCL is connected to the analog A5 pin of the

arduino board.

Note: all ground and 5 volts supply of all devices in the

breadboard are connected to each other.

V. OBSERVATIONS /

Ldr function: automatic

Button 2 function: manual

As you press the first button once, led with red color will

automatically light on. Automatic function will control the

servo motor to open the window in the presence of light and

in the absence of light the automatic function will control

the servo motor to close the window. In addition, you will

see a banner displayed in the screen - a good morning

greeting.

As you press the first button twice, led light with red

color will turn off automatically, the LDR loses its control

over the servo motor. The led with orange color will turn on

indicating that second button controls the servo motor. The

second button will be activated and serve its purpose, in

this moment, the second button is the one who is change in

the servo motor to open and close the smart window in a slow

mode. In contrast to LDR, the LCD will display a banner-

good evening greeting. As you press the first button thrice,

it will back to default which has no function at all.

As you press the first button four times continously, the

effect is similar to automatic effect somewhat synonymous to

the effect when you press the button once. As you press the

first button five times continously, the effect is similar

to manual mode somewhat synonymous to the effect when you

press the button twice. On the hand, if you press the first
button six times, the default features are activated giving

the same sensation as you press the button thrice. As you

press the second button immediately without giving a press

to the first one, no possible effect will occur to the smart

window since no activation happened.
