1. Reflection occurs when light travels from one medium to another with a higher refractive index and bends back into the first medium. The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. 2. Refraction occurs when light travels from one medium to another with a lower refractive index and bends towards the normal. The ratio of sines of the angle of incidence and angle of refraction is equal to the ratio of refractive indices of the two media according to Snell's law. 3. For a light ray traveling from glass to water, the refractive index of water is higher than that of glass so the light ray will bend towards the normal and undergo refraction.
