1.1 Overview
DID (Direct Inward Dialing) trunk groups allow the OmniPCX Enterprise to be connected to the
public network via DID analog lines. DID trunk groups are sometimes referred to as DDI
(Direct Dialing Inward) trunk groups.
Signaling analysis allows incoming calls to be directly routed to the called party (DID
functionality). This type of trunk group is used for incoming calls only.
DID trunk groups are supported by DDI boards in ACT format and in S or L racks.

2.2 Definitions
WINK:
A signal sent between two telecommunications devices as part of a hand-shaking protocol. It is
a momentary interruption in SF (Single Frequency) tone, indicating that the distant central
office is ready to receive the digits that have just been dialed. In telephone switching systems,
a single supervisory pulse. On a digital connection such as a T-1 circuit, a wink is signaled by
a brief change in the A and B signaling bits. On an analog line, a wink is signaled by a change
in polarity (electrical + and -) on the line.
Wink operation (Wink start) :
A timed off-hook signal normally of 140 milliseconds, which indicates the availability of an
incoming register for receiving digital information from the calling office. A control system for
phone systems using address signaling.
3.1 Procedure
The configuration procedure consists of the following steps:
1. Configuring signaling. Signaling is configured with:
• The board used.
• The country selected.
• The Trunk COS used.
2. Declaring the board.
3. Creating the trunk group.
4. Creating the trunks.
The following figure shows how the objects required to implement an analog DID trunk group
are organized.
Trunk COS ID : Enter Trunk COS ID. COS 4 is recommended for this type
of trunk.
Connection COS ID : Enter connection COS ID. This value must be compatible
with the Connection COS plan used on the site.
Trunk Type : Displays trunk type: DID.
Signaling Type : Displays trunk type: Not Relevant.
Waiting Guide : Yes: the music-on-hold is connected when a call is placed
on hold (default value).
No: tone 55 is connected when a call is placed on hold.
Overflow Timer on No : Enter the delay before overflow. For an incoming call, when
Answer the called party (DID number or routing number) does not
answer, the system waits for this timer to elapse before
performing overflow to the overflow set.
Default value: 30 seconds (300 units of 100ms).
Overflow Timer on Waiting : Same as for "no answer" (see previous item), but for a
busy set. 300 (default value).
DID Trunk
Line Signaling : Select signaling:
- Default Signaling (this is the default value).
- PCM Q421: Digital DID. This parameter is only used for
PCM DID connections on a PCM board.
- PCM Q421 type 2: Digital DID. This parameter is only
used for PCM DID connections on a PCM board.
Exchange Type : Select exchange type:
- W48: default value.
- W48 U: according to country
- OES: according to country
- Analog Central: according to country
- Digital Central: according to country
Line Type : Select line type:
- Short line: for short lines (input level –3 dBr, output
level 0 dBr)
This is the default option.
- Long line: for long lines (input level –3 dBr, output
level 3 dBr).
- Standard Gain: for “L1” (Line 1) lines.
- Medium Gain: for “L2” (Line 2) lines.
- Plan 1 trans: for “L3” (Line 3) lines.
- Plan 2 trans: for “L4” (Line 4) lines.
- Standard line 2: for “L5” (Line 5) lines.
- Standard line 3: for “L6” (Line 6) lines.
- Long line 2: for “L7” (Line 7) lines.
- Long line 3: for “L8” (Line 8) lines.
The board must be reset for this parameter to be applied.
Incoming Call Unavailable : Unavailability timer between trunk release and the following
Time incoming seizure.
Default value: 100ms (1 unit of 100ms).
The board must be reset for this parameter to be applied.
Note:
System country is specified in the Installation object, Country for external signaling parameter.
Delay Between Digits on : Enter the maximum waiting time between two digits. When
Receiving this timer elapses, there are two possible cases:
- Closed dialing: the call is released.
- Open dialing: the timer elapsing is interpreted as the
end of dialing and the call is routed according to the
routing list.
Default timer: 20s (200 units of 100ms).
Routing to Attendant : Not used (default value).
First Digit Authorized :
Digit 0 : 1 (default value).
Digit 1 : 1 (default value).
...... : ......
Digit 9 : 1 (default value).
Number of Digits Received : Depending on the site, this parameter may have the
following values:
- 0 : in open dialing mode (default value).
- Equal to the number of digits transmitted by the carrier.
Usually 3 digits (sometimes 4) are sent.
Number of Digits Used : This parameter is used only for operation in open dialing
mode. The value varies depending on the site, usually 3
digits, sometimes 4. This value must match the DID
translator value.
If the number of digits received is higher than the number
of digits used, the first digits received are deleted.
Open Dialing : According to site:
- Yes: open dialing is used and the above two
parameters are not used.
- No: the number of digits received is specified by the
Number of Digits Used parameter.
End of Selection : No (default value).
Wait for Caller Release : 50 (default value).
Timer
Caller Release Validation : 25 (default value).
Time
Loop Feeding Digit Break : Relevant for decimal pulse dialing (Incoming DTMF
Time Received parameter set to No).
Enter maximum pulse duration. This is set by the number
of 2 ms units (default value: 50). The board must be reset
for this parameter to be applied.
Loop Feeding Digit Make : Relevant for decimal dialing.
Time Enter the maximum duration for the time between two
pulses.
This is set by the number of 2 ms units (default value: 40).
The board must be reset for this parameter to be applied.
Answer Signal Time : 12 (default value).
The board must be reset for this parameter to be applied.
