Week 8 Fourier Series

The document discusses Fourier series and periodic functions. It begins by defining periodic functions as functions whose values repeat at regular intervals. It then provides examples of periodic functions and their graphs. The document goes on to explain how to expand periodic functions into Fourier series using trigonometric identities. It provides an example of expanding the periodic function f(x)=πx for 0<x<1 into its Fourier series.

Periodic functions
⚫ A function f(x) is said to be periodic if its
function values repeat at regular intervals of
the independent variables.
f ( x ) = f ( x + p)
where p is a constant and is called the period
of the function.
