Introduction
Dear Colleagues,
This DVD contains 10 lessons to enable Extended Stream G7 students familiarise themselves with ICT tools,
techniques and skills. The lessons build up from the students’ experiences of the digital classroom set-up
in grades 4, 5 and 6. Indeed, they have been exposed in most cases to the interactive projector used with
Open-Sankoré software. The lessons start from the simplest and scale up to the more complex.
We have used a micro-learning strategy to devise the lessons. Each lesson is chunked into several tasks.
Micro-learning is a holistic approach for skill-based learning which deals with relatively small learning
units. For instance, you will notice that each task deals with 1 or 2 ICT skills. This strategy involves short-term
focused strategies that merge into a whole. Working out a series of lessons, for example, will enable the
students to construct a mind-map or a timeline.
Furthermore, the lessons cater for a number of subject areas such as Mathematics, English, Science and
Social Studies. These lessons hence could help students to achieve two goals. Firstly, they will be able to
acquire ICT skills and secondly, grasp concepts in other subject areas.
We recommend that you adopt the following strategy:
