    Activity 1: WHAT TO DO!


    Yes we are ready in the upcoming typhoon, we prepare for it by keeping our-self updated. With the various
    media platforms, it is next to impossible to not be updated of the supposed typhoon’s movement. We will
    Inspect and clean up our house especially our drainage system. Check to see if there’s a need to fix our house
    such as holes on our roofs, damaged doors, windows or ceilings. We will fixed them as soon as possible. Do
    check as well our drainage system. If there’s clogging, have them fixed or remove any material that may
    possibly cause the clogging. We will also Store ample amount of ready-to-eat foods and water. Making sure
    that the foods and water that will store is adequate enough for me and my family and will last for few days.
    Ready-to-eat foods such as canned/packed foods are especially helpful when cooking is no longer feasible.
    Always having our emergency kits with us. My emergency kit may include first-aid supplies, candles,
    flashlights, life vests and battery-operated radio.
    During Typhoon, If no advice to evacuate was announced, then we will better stay inside our house. We
    keep our-self calm and postpone any scheduled travels. We Keep on monitoring the typhoon’s movement
    through television, radio or the internet. If we see signs of water rising, we better turn off the main sources of
    electricity. Keep our electric-powered items stored in higher areas and refrain from using them during flood.
    We don’t wade along flooded areas to keep our-self from contacting water-borne diseases. If it is inevitable,
    we will wear protective gears such as raincoats and boots to protect us, If we are told to evacuate, we will
    calmly comply.
    We overcome the aftermath of typhoon by Seeking out and connect with social support, Given that a
    natural disaster can impact an entire community, our support system may be weakened by a natural disaster.
    However, even connecting with one person can make a difference. Also we will Focus on self-care, A natural
    disaster can deplete me physically as well as emotionally. It is very important that making time to care for
    myself. Self-care is integral to emotional and physical health. Caring for our body, mind, and spirit can increase
    your ability to cope with trauma. Making sure we will eat well, get enough sleep, and exercise.

     Secure heavy furniture, hanging plants, heavy pictures or mirrors. Keep flammable or hazardous liquids
    in cabinets or on lower shelves. Maintain emergency food, water and other supplies, including a
    flashlight, a portable battery-operated radio, extra batteries, medicines, first aid kit and clothing.
     Seek shelter under stable tables or under door frames. If outside, stay away from buildings, bridges
    and electricity pylons and move to open areas. Avoid areas at risk from secondary processes, such as
    landslides, rockfall and soil liquefaction.
     If there is no shelter nearby, get down near an interior wall or next to low-lying furniture that won't fall
    on you, and cover your head and neck with your arms and hands. Try to stay clear of windows or glass
    that could shatter or objects that could fall on you.
