A/B
The children are sleeping and dreaming. Suddenly the window opens and a light (that
is a thousand times brighter than the night-lights) enters the room.
It isn’t really a light, but a fairy, no bigger than your hand.
Her name is Tinker Bell, she wears a beautiful leaf
dress. She flies around and looks for something.
After a moment, a young boy enters the bedroom
and says, "Tink, where are you? Please find my
shadow."
Tinker Bell finds his shadow in the drawer and
gives it to him. "Now I can stick the shadow to my
feet with some soap," he thinks. He tries and tries
again, but he can't. He is very confused and starts
crying.
His crying wakes Wendy.
“Boy, why are you crying?” Wendy asks.
The boy takes off his cap and asks, "What's your name?"
“Wendy Moira Angela Darling” she replies. “What’s your name?”
“Peter Pan”
“Where do you live?”
“Second to the right,“ says Peter, “and then straight on till morning”.
“What a funny address!”
“No, it isn’t” Peter says.
“Is that what they put on the letters?”
“I don’t get any letter”
“But does your mother get letters?”
“I don’t have a mother” he says.
“Oh Peter, now I understand why you are crying” Wendy declares.
“No, I’m crying because I can’t get my shadow to stick back on”
“I’ll sew it on for you!”
Wendy sews the shadow onto his foot, and soon Peter is jumping and dancing around
happily.
"Oh, Wendy, you are wonderful!" says Peter.
"Do you really think so?" asks Wendy.
"Yes! One girl is better than twenty boys" says Peter.
“That’s very sweet” Wendy smiles and gives Peter a kiss on the cheek.
“Peter, how old are you”?
“I don’t know, but I am young. I don't want to grow up. I always want to be a boy and
have fun. So I ran away to live with fairies.”
“So fairies are real?”
“Oh yes,” he explains, “When a baby laughs for the first time, its laugh breaks into a
thousand pieces, and those pieces become fairies. But when a child says ‘ I don’t’
believe in fairies’, a fairy dies”.
The sound of bells come from the drawer. Tinker Bell flies out. Wendy is delighted to
see a fairy, but Tinker Bell is afraid. She hides behind the big clock.
"Where do you live, Peter?" asks Wendy.
"I live in Neverland with the Lost Boys," says Peter.
"Neverland? The Lost Boys? Who are they?" asks Wendy.
"The Lost Boys haven't got a mother or father. They are alone in the world and they
live in Neverland. I am their Captain. In Neverland we fight the pirates. We also swim
in the lagoon with the beautiful mermaids. Fairies live in the trees and the forest. The
fairies are my friends," says Peter.
"Oh, what fun!" says Wendy.
“Yes,” says Peter, “but we are very lonely. There are no girls there.”
“No girls?”
“Oh no. I wish there were someone to tell us stories. Come with me, Wendy”
CHAPTER 3 “Neverland”
Wendy, John and Michael fly over cities, towns, mountains, forests and seas. They fly for
one day and one night, sometimes they fall asleep and Peter wakes them up. Finally they
see an island in the sea.
"Look, that's Neverland," says Peter.
"Neverland!" say the children.
In Neverland the Lost Boys are looking
for Peter, the pirates are looking for the
Lost Boys, the Indians are looking for the
pirates and the animals are looking for
the Indians. Everyone is following each
other around the island.
The Lost Boys live in the forest in a secret
underground home. They are six, they
are wearing bearskins to keep them
warm. Their names are: Slightly, Tootles,
Nibs, Curly and the little Twins.
Suddenly they hear the voices of the
pirates who are singing a song: “Yo ho
ho, here we go!”.
Nibs is very brave: he goes out, hides behind a tree and looks around him. He sees the
horrible pirates. They are walking in the forest. They are big and ugly.
The pirates' captain is James Hook. He is a cruel pirate and a very bad man.
He's got long black curly hair, his eyes are blue except when he’s fighting with his hook,
then they light up red. He hates Peter Pan. He's only got one arm, the left one.
“In the past, I cut off Captain Hook's right arm during a fight. And now he’s got a hook!”
says Peter.
A crocodile ate the arm. Now the crocodile follows Captain Hook everywhere because he
wants to eat him.
The crocodile has an alarm clock in its stomach and Captain Hook can always hear it
when it’s near!
The Indians follow the pirates. This is the Little Indian tribe. Great Big Little Panther is
their leader, Tiger Lily is their beautiful princess. She is also a very good fighter.
The Indians disappear and here come some hungry animals, lions, tigers and bears. The
last in line is a very big crocodile. It is looking for something special.
"I know the Lost Boys live in this forest. I want all seven. Most of all, I want their captain,
Peter Pan! He cut off my arm and threw it to a crocodile. Ahhhhhh!”
Captain Hook and the pirates run in the forest, Hook is tired and sits down on a
mushroom.
“Ha! This seat is hot!”
He picks up the mushroom and some smoke comes out of the ground.
“A chimney….we’ve discovered the chimney of the Lost Boys” Hook smiles.
“What’s your plan, Captain?” says Smee
“We will return to the ship and cook a large, rich cake. We will leave the cake for the
boys and they will eat it. And then they will die!” he begins laughing but, all of a sudden,
he stops and hears: tick, tock, tick, tock…
“The crocodile!” he shouts and they all run away.
The boys come out of their house, they see a big white bird flying over them. It is Wendy
and Tinker Bell is flying with her.
“Look, there is a lovely white bird in the sky. Is it really a bird?" the Lost Boys ask.
Tinker Bell says, "Yes, yes, it's a bird. It's a Wendy bird. You must shoot it!"
Tink can be sometimes a bad fairy. She knows it is Wendy, but she doesn't like her.
Nibs takes his bow and arrow and shoots Wendy. Poor Wendy falls to the ground. The
Lost Boys see Wendy and say," She's not a bird! She's a lovely girl."
At that moment Peter returns with John and Michael and says: “Hello boys! Aren’t you
happy to see me? Why are you in silence? What’s the matter?”
The boys show Wendy to Peter.
"Wendy, are you all right?" says Peter
Wendy slowly opens her eyes and smiles "Yes, but I'm very tired," she says.
The Boys tell Peter what Tinker Bell had done.
“What should we do Peter?”
“We must build a little house for Wendy. She must rest.” says Peter.
Soon they build a little red house with a green floor. They make windows and Peter
knocks a hole in John’s hat and put it on the roof as a chimney.
There, it is done!
"What a lovely little house! Thank you." says Wendy
"Can you be our mother now? asks Nibs.
“But I’m only a little girl. I have no real experience.”
“That doesn’t matter.” says Peter.
“Ok. I will do my best. Come inside and I will tell some
bedtime stories.”
They enter, sit down and listen to Wendy's story.
Wendy puts the Lost Boys to bed, except for Peter, who
stands guard outside the house with his sword.
CHAPTER 4 “The mermaid lagoon”
One of the first thing Peter does is to make Wendy, John and Michael their own doors in
their own trees to the house under the ground.
“You must fit exactly intro your own door or you can’t enter.” says Peter
They love their new house: it has just one large room, with a big fire, and all the boys,
except Michael, sleep in one big bed.
Tinker Bell has her own special corner with the best and most beautiful fairy furniture.
The boys keep Wendy very busy. She cooks and cleans all day. She sews up the holes in
their trousers.
As time passes, they all begin to forget their parents.
Wendy asks the children some questions on their family: “Who was taller? Mother of
Father?” But, after a time they can’t remember.
One summer evening Peter, Wendy, John, Michael and the Lost Boys go to the
Mermaid's Lagoon. Beautiful mermaids live here and they are Peter's friends.
They swim and play in the blue lagoon. Then they sit on Marooner's Rock to comb their
long hair.
The children like the mermaids and John says, "I want to catch one!" He tries, but the
mermaid jumps into the water.
Peter says, "It is very difficult to catch a mermaid."
