Background Information:
Personal pronouns are used to replace nouns in sentences. The words being replaced
are called antecedents.
When to use the personal pronouns he, she, it, and they:
• Masculine – referring to male.
- he (singular), they (plural).
• Neutral – referring to someone who might not identify strictly as male or female. These
pronouns are considered gender neutral. It is also used when referring to multiple people.
