SOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECT

Objectives

1. To identify specific societal problems/issues.


2. To come up with a project proposal that suggests innovative and creative solutions relevant
to the field of Information Technology.
3. To apply the learnings in Science, Technology and Society subjects.

Instructions

1. Choose a specific community.


2. Conduct research and identify specific problem/s in the chosen area. Students can conduct
interviews, surveys, or other methods to gather data if quarantine protocols, if there are any,
will be abided.
3. Identify the problem/s that can be addressed.
4. Suggest an innovative/creative solution to solve the chosen problem/s.
5. Propose at least three (3) topics/abstract paper to your instructor for approval.
6. Make a discussion paper for the approved project.
7. Once the paper is finalized and approved, create a 15 to 20-minute presentation for your
project.

Grading Criteria

 30% Originality of the project proposal


 20% Applicability of the solution
 20% Relevance/impact of the technology to the community
 15% Video presentation (video quality, editing skills, clarity of voice, overall content)
 15% Discussion paper and proposal defense (short discussion during the class)

Contents of the Discussion Paper

I. Introduction
o Background of the problem

o Relevance of the project to the present time

II. Background of the Study


o Project beneficiary (including location and other relevant data)

o Problem statement (present data and facts)

o Objectives

o Possible solutions

III. Conceptual Design


o Concepts relevant to the proposed technology

o Comparison to existing technologies

o Project production and implementation

o Project goals and development

o Advantages and disadvantages of the project

o Scopes and limitations of the project

IV. General Design


o Project design (layout, parts, input/s, output/s)

o Mechanism of the technology

o Product work and function

o Materials to be used

o Project costing

V. Documentation
o Group discussion documents (screenshots of virtual discussion)

o Group members contribution

o Photos/profile of the group members

o References
Paper format:
Word document, Arial 11, A4 size, 1.5 spacing, add space after every paragraph, 1” margin all sides

Contents of the Video Presentation

I. Background of the Study
