ABSTRACT
The study was conducted with the general objective of assessing the current practices of
recruitment and selection in Addis pharmaceutical factory.
In fulfilling the aforementioned objective, the study was designed to identify the methods
and procedures of recruitment and selection, the selection criteria used and the source of
recruitment used in Addis pharmaceutical factory.
The study is based on both secondary and primary data. The secondary data which are
collected from company publications and records, books,
Newspaper, etc. And the primary data which are collected through questionnaire and
interview. The questionnaires were distributed to employees of eight departments (at
head office) the sample was selected using proportional stratified sampling. The
interview was conducted with the human resource department manager.
Results of the study have revealed that the practices of recruitment and selection of staff
personnel in Addis pharmaceutical factory were not applied as expected because of
hindering factors the organizations policy regarding salary, lack of enough information
about the applicants and promotion part-time job.
Finally, based on the findings, some of the conclusions drown are (i) Addis
pharmaceutical factory uses predominantly internal (ii) notice board and newspaper are
the methods that the company used to announce job vacancies to employees. (iii) as far
as internal recruitment is concerned both transfer and promotion are practical by Addis
pharmaceutical factory. And recommendations forwarded are (i) Addis pharmaceutical
factory should shape the content and format of announcement.(ii) in order to bring new
idea and innovation to the company, d recommendations factory should use external
source as well. (iii) Addis recommendations factory should undertake research around
the major hindering factors prevailing in the company.

where I am now.

manager of human resource management Ato zereisenay for his corporation in
answering the interview questions.

childhood in all the way in school and during my three years of stay at Aksum
