Introduction
Teaching is noble profession that teaches all the other professions. Teachers are
selfless, always ready to go to any extent to help their students. It gives a great feel of
self-satisfaction to a teacher when they see their students achieve in life. As a teacher
you have a huge responsibility to play role in society. A teacher develops holistically
students to help our country thrive. Doctor Jose Rizal said that the youth are the hope
of the nation. A teacher’s role is to guide young people in school and they are also their
second parent.
Honestly, being a teacher is not really my first course because the course I want
is to be an engineer. But in unforeseen circumstances in life I go on my second course
being a teacher. I don’t blame myself for choosing this course because I have learned to
love and pursue this course. Because of this course I became self -disciplined and I
became serious about studying and learning on how to be a great teacher. And also I
became a new person that equipped with the skills to be able to adapt for changing
society betterment. In this field, I realized that I can serve better in society for molding
and developing holistically new individual students. I believe that education is a wealth
that you can pass on to young people and students for their bright future.
My teaching philosophy that I believe students has different abilities and
intelligences on how they learned. They have different abilities and intelligences that
make them different from everyone else. As a future teacher my teaching strategies
should only be compatible and flexible to my various students so that they can cope up
all equally in my lessons. I will be a great teacher one day who can develop holistically
learners to have an impact in our society. I will be a good role model teacher to
everyone to be respected by societies. Students are like a bird that flies freely to their
destination even with lightning, rain and sunny weather they also get to their
destination safely.
Being a teacher has a huge responsibility for the student to develop and learn
knowledge, skills and good manners. Now, with the pandemic we face our way of
teaching has changed from face to face class to online class. We cannot be sure that our
students will learn now because we cannot monitor our learner's performance. And
because of technology our teaching has improved and there have been new teaching
strategies to continue the learning of students even with a pandemic. I believe in the
Chinese proverb "A thousand teachers, a thousand methods". It is only right for a
teacher to be innovative because of this pandemic because we do not know if our
students have learned anything. A teacher must be open minded, patient,
approachable, and able to understand the situations of today's students.
Practice teaching is not easy part of my journey being education student. This is
the perfect time to showcase who I am being a teacher in the real world of teaching.
Now, I can apply what I learn in my education subjects. Even though is not face to face
practice teaching I can mold students in the new normal way of learning? “The students
of the future will demand the learning support that is appropriate for their situation or
context. Nothing more, nothing less. And they want it at the moment the need arises.
Not sooner, not later. Mobile devices will be a key technology for providing that learning
support.” - Dr. Marcus Specht
In this portfolio is composed of my different compilations during my field
practice. Included here are my reflections, experiences, tasks, and learning’s that help
me to be flexible teacher as I teach new normal way of teaching. I put all the things here
on how I’ve surpassed and achieved success being a student teacher.

The triumph of this practice teaching is mainly attributed to many wonderful
people who helped for the author in his practice teaching made it interesting and
unforgettable experiences that he will cherish, worth to remember and share. Indeed,

the advice and help the day began his practice teaching to become effective teacher, for
advising him how to improve his teaching style and sharing expertise ideas of being an
effective teacher.
To Sir Lester Lou B. Segumpan, his cooperating teacher for allowing his practice
teaching in grade 9 mathematics and for being supportive as a cooperating teacher. For
the advice and help the day began his practice teaching to become effective teacher, for
advising him how to improve his teaching style and sharing expertise ideas of being an
effective teacher.
The author would like to express her gratitude to all faculty and staff of CMULHS
for welcoming the student teachers and made her feel comfortable in the
workplace.
It would be inappropriate if the author omits to mention her co-student
teachers who always cheering up when every time the author was tired and
discouraged. For lending help when there are times that things will not go along as it is
planned.
To all the people whom may not able to mention but contributed a lot on the

Week 1: (Feb. 9, 2021 - FEB. 12, 2021)

Hi there,
Teaching is an important job as a teacher. This is my first week as a student’s teacher deployed at Central
Mindanao University Laboratory High School. I am happy and excited to teach and also to experience the things
that teachers experience in teaching in the new normal way of learning. I felt nervous during my first week at
Central Mindanao University Laboratory High School because of the things I would expect happen about teaching
an online class. Although I have a lot of expectation in deploying us as a student’s teacher but I made them
motivation to encourage me in the things I experience such as problems and challenges in teaching online class.
Our deployment began with an orientation before we were given by our cooperating teacher. We were first
taught the rules of the school, the things we would do and don’t and then the guidelines in our teaching practice.
We are happy and excited to start our teaching practice because we can teach online classes. The unexpected
announcement of our mathematics division coordinator about choosing cooperating teacher makes us more
nervous. He just put the names of the Mathematics cooperating teachers and did not have the subject so that
there would be a surprise of what subject we will be teach. We were all wrapped of our fear that we might pick
the mathematics cooperating teacher who handles the calculus subject. Because for us it is difficult to teach
calculus when online class based on our experience in online class last time in calculus we also find it difficult to
understand and study the subject. I pick the mathematics cooperating teacher was Mrs. Derjie who held the
grade 8 levels. After our orientation and we all went to our mathematics cooperating teacher and to find out
what we were going to do. She provided us with course guides and tasks to do such as create modules and
worksheets to put in the Google classroom of each section. First module made we had a lot of problems faced
because we did not know what to put in the module. But with the experience and learning in our college subjects
such as applications that can help in making the module reduce our problem. In addition to the modules
examples given by our cooperating teacher is a great help to us so that we have a guide for making modules and
worksheets. So we finished the modules and worksheets correctly.
The first week was in our teaching practice we had already experienced problems and challenges such as finding
the sources of what we put in the module and worksheet. And also the applications that we will use in making
module and worksheet because of the difficult for inputting Mathematical symbols in Microsoft word. In
addition, mistakes, comments and guidance were provided by our cooperating teacher in making our module
and worksheet. But the problems and challenges we face have been solved. We learn a lesson for the next
making of module and worksheet we already know how to improve our module and worksheet.

Deployment and Orientation
Week 2: (Feb. 15, 2021 - FEB. 19, 2021)

Hi there,
This week the things we did were module making, power point presentation, worksheet and preparation
for the first day of my grade 8 mathematics class. Before we teach each section assigned to us. Our PowerPoint
presentations are check by our cooperating teacher before we teach. To make sure we teach our students well
understand our lesson. I really need someone to guide me because this is my first time into teaching online class.
And the guidelines given by my cooperating teacher is my inspiration and guide for my first online teaching to be
beautiful and smooth. I am excited to teach because I can share to my students what I have learned.
On the day of my online class I was feeling nervous because I didn't know how to start teaching online
class. My nervous blow out because of the inspirational words given by our cooperating teacher before we started
our class. While I was waiting for the students I do reviewed my lesson to discuss with them. When many
students enter the Google meet classes I already start my class. I started by discussing with them the lesson for
first module. My teaching method is Q&A portion so that I can have a conversation with my students. Not all of
my students turned on their microphone but they message their answers in our chat box. It's really hard to teach
in an online class because you can't see the faces of the students. Did they learn something or did they enjoy it? I
was happy when I first taught and my students were actively and corporately to my classes. But I'm still nervous
because I'm afraid I might make a mistake. I am thankful the guidance of my cooperating teacher because it
helped me a lot to pass the first test of my online teaching class at Central Mindanao University Laboratory High
School and also to my students who cooperated in my discussion.
My first day as a student’s teacher is very great. Although there are many problems such as a few students
but I don't think a few students because we know it's really hard to adjust to the online class. I also experience
their experiences in the online class. Actually, it's really hard to teach mathematics in an online class when your
topic is problem solving. But as a teacher you must find a way how you can deliver the lesson well and be
understood by the students. And in my experience on the first day I will make him an inspiration for the next day
or week that passes through my journey as a student teacher.

Grade 8: Module 1 and First
Online Class
Week 3: (Feb. 22, 2021 - FEB. 26, 2021)

Hi there,
My second week in my teaching practice I became comfortable with the tasks given to me. We no longer
had a problem making our second module because we have books and internet source what we put in second
module. And then we know what our mistake is in the first module that we can make guide for making second
module. We finished working on second module and worksheet smoothly and precisely. We passed it on to our
cooperating teacher so that she could check before we uploaded it to Google classroom.
When our second module and worksheet are okay, we will start making a power point presentation for
second module that we will discuss this week. We are happy to make a PowerPoint presentation because
everything we put in the PowerPoint is all about mathematical figures. So, we were challenged to draw in
Microsoft word. We finished the PowerPoint presentation in second module and then, we checked it with our
cooperating teacher so that she could see if our presentation was correct and orderly. Sometimes we practice
teaching through with my co-teachers before we start teaching us to our assign section. Is a way to get used to
get out our nervousness? Sometimes nervousness makes us unable to focus. Our cooperating teacher do the
same thing before we start teaching, she still gives us encouragement every time we teach. And we are very
grateful because it gives us the courage to teach our students. It's good to hear nice words from your cooperating
teacher because it makes you feel like someone is supporting you. I also finished my second online class
peacefully and happily.
I know that the first week I was still crawling. I can't deny it because I'm just starting my teaching practice.
Whatever my experiences were in the first week, I will apply in my second week. I am no longer so nervous about
my teaching. I sink into the things a teacher does gives the encouragement and advice. The lessons and guidance
given by my cooperating teacher I always remember and apply to every task she gives me.

Grade 8: Module 2 and Second
Online Class
Week 4: (MAR. 1, 2021 – MAR. 5, 2021)

Hi there,
My third week in my teaching practice I became comfortable with the tasks given to me. We no longer had a

working on third module and worksheet smoothly and precisely. We passed it on to our cooperating teacher so that
she could check before we uploaded it to Google classroom.
When our third Module and worksheet are okay we will start to make a power point presentation for third
module that we will discuss this week. But the day of our online class was a holiday so we didn’t have a class. All we
do is to upload the third modules and worksheet to Google classroom so they have work to do. We messages with
them. If they have any questions, they can contact us with those who did not understand third module. And our
cooperating teacher said that we should just prepare a table of specifications (TOS) and third grading periodical
exam for grade 8. So, we made an outline for doing the third grading periodical exam. We gathered sources of
question to input in our exam. It is difficult to take the exam because we experienced it in our assessment 1 and it
takes a long time. Doing the TOS and exam is something a teacher needs to do to know the performance of his or
her student each quarter. We all know that not all students excel in just one quarter.
This week is full of tasks to do because their third grading periodical exam is near. That's why we are
preparing the exam for them. Even though this week has been difficult, we have not been shaken by those things
because of our cooperation and unity of my co-teachers. We can say that it is not difficult and we can do it.
Whatever trials you face when united and working together it will be overcome.

Grade 8: Module 3 and Third
Grading Periodical Exam
Preparation
Week 5: (MAR. 8, 2021 – MAR. 12, 2021)

Hi there,
This week is the day of compiling our question made for the third grading periodical exam of grade 8. So
that we can check with our cooperating teacher if the questions we put in each objectives of the topics are aligned.
In the school we did our third grading periodical exam and TOS because the exams are not allowed to be printed
outside. We passed our TOS and third grading periodical exam to our cooperating teacher for checking. Then, we
found out our mistakes in our drafting the TOS and third grading periodical exam. So again we printed it out and
passed it on to our cooperating teacher for checking again.
After being okay with our cooperating teacher we went to the Mathematics division coordinator to check
our TOS and third grading periodical exam. And that’s where we learned that mathematics teachers should all have
the same TOS format. So he gave us an example of the format in the TOS and so we immediately edited it. And then
the format of the periodical exam he also gave us. We easily edit the TOS and periodical exam. So we finished the
editing which we printed out two copies for to pass to him and our cooperating teacher. And we are very thankful
that our periodical exam and TOS are correctly. We have already started editing and preparing our periodical exam
put in the zip grade exam. Even though we repeatedly revised our periodical exam, we did not give up and lost our
courage. We are challenged hard to do the periodical exam properly. And this week we celebrate fire and
earthquake prevention month. We participated in school -sponsored activities. It was a fun experience we had as
student teachers.
It may be difficult but we can handle the challenges we face. As a teacher I should just be willing to accept
my mistakes and negative comments for me so that I can improve especially. Negative comments make me an
inspiration to get through it. It’s like in a game when you’re weak you’re always being bullied by teammates. So you
have to be good so they don't bully. If you lose, the person who bullied you and you are a loser. So in my teaching
practice no matter what negative or positive comments are given to me I don't sometimes feel it bad.

Grade 8: TOS and Third Grading
Periodical Exam Preparation
Week 6: (MAR. 15, 2021 – MAR. 19, 2021)

Hi there,
This week is my last day with my cooperating teacher to Ma'am Derjie because in our orientation with
mathematics division coordinator told us to re -shuffle in March 14, 2021. We had a meeting to reshuffle and we
did draw lots. I picked the cooperating teacher was Sir Segumpan who would manage grade 9 mathematics. But
before we can start with our new cooperating teacher we first need to finish our tasks with our former
cooperating teacher.
What we did this week was we conducted a third grading periodical exam through zip grade, we did item
analysis, input scores for grade 8 Mathematics and then I started first module and worksheet in my new
cooperating teacher. We assigned to monitor in our third grading periodical exam because our cooperating teacher
had a meeting at that time. We just need to list down those who have taken the exam and also to remind those
who have not yet taken it. After we conducted the third grading periodical exam we were asked to do an item
analysis. For me, this is not new to me because I did it in my assessment learning 1 and I have an item analysis
application. So, it's easy for me to do it because I know how to use him. After done making item analysis and I just
printout the copies so that I can pass to my cooperating teacher. Our cooperating teacher gave us a printout excels
to input into the scores of our students. After we done input we gave it to our cooperating teacher but suddenly a
student came to the school because he didn't know how to answer all his worksheets because he didn't attend my
online class. So I did I gave him time for me to teach her. That time I read the module to her and told her that
when you don't understand something, just ask me. I also finished teaching her, so she answered his worksheet. I
used to think that when I don't know the answer, I really ask for help from those who know. But as a teacher you
should only have broad responsibilities to students. So after my requirements in grade 8 mathematics I started to
make modules and worksheets with my new cooperating teacher.

Although there are many requirements faced this week. I still standing here smiling and also talking new
cooperating teachers and co-teachers will face new challenges. That's why I have to be able to adjust to the new
challenges. I am ready to face new chapters in my teaching practice for grade 9 mathematics.

Item Analysis and New Cooperating
Teacher
Week 7: (MAR. 22, 2021 – MAR. 26, 2021)

Hi there,
This week started my online class in grade 9 mathematics. Unlike my online class before, we had
different sections to assign but here we became a team teach in all the sections in grade 9. And then we taught
them practice exercises to let them know the correct answer solution. And also to know if they solve the
practice exercises that we put in first module correctly. They can answer their first worksheet. I will face
another test with our new cooperating teacher. It is difficult to adjust but I need to adjust for the new journey.
We each prepared a PowerPoint presentation for our individual discussion and we were only given 15
minutes each so we could discuss our practice exercise properly. While we were preparing our PowerPoint
presentation we were looking for time to make the second module and worksheet so that we would not have
to pile up tasks and be able to pass on time. Before we start our online class we have a pre-conference with our
cooperating teacher. So that he knows how to deliver our lesson and then he organizes my PowerPoint
presentation. Sometimes he also teaches us teaching strategies on how to teach our lesson. So we are grateful
for what he teaches us. On the day of our online class we didn't feel so nervous and it seemed to boost our
confidence to teach. Our online class he would always check our PowerPoint presentation to see if something
was missing or misplaced. After our online class we also had a post conference to give us comments on our
teaching that day. My negative comments that he gave me said that I speak quickly and then my voice is low.
The positive comments he gave me that I was good in discussing and I knew what I was discussing. The
comments he gave to me were valued because it would be a big help to me becoming a great teacher one day.
I am happy with my first online class with my new cooperating teacher because I will learn new teaching
styles. But what I learned from my former cooperating teacher I still apply today to my new cooperating
teacher. For me, whatever new challenge is given to me, I must accept because I will test my ability as a teacher
one day and I will be able to develop things for myself.
