Activity 7: Essay (What can you do?)

“Minsan sa Isang Taon”

Specific problem:
Mountains are slowly becoming bald.

Solution:
Addressing the problem to the local government or
city government so they can act to it and raise a possible action like tree
planting program.

Health. Electricity. Food resources. Livelihood. These things are the problems
that can be seen in Sitio Banli. Sitio Banli is one of the poorest places in
Sarangani but it is one of the sources of abaca, one of the ingredients in
making money. Some of the clips in the documentary film show that the
mountain is gradually turning bald. Our group sees this as a specific problem
in their community considering that their main source as their livelihood is
harvesting abaca, which only lives in a cold place, shady area, and near the
rivers. In this situation, we need the government to assess everything that can

addition, the government can give extra livelihood for the wives of the farmers
of abaca for them to have a stable income or they can have community

poultry or some vegetables that can help them to provide their daily needs. To
make it more valuable, they can make pastry or delicacies made of camote.
Government should also propose easy access roads for them to have a
community vehicle to transport their crops easily. On the other hand, the road
can be used also for the social workers to go to Sitio Banli to consult the
situation of their kids.
