Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?
With this experience, I learned the importance of being knowledgeable about what virtual manipulatives are available to students. The virtual manipulatives
help bring the math to life, making it more fun and engaging for students. This helps the students meet the high expectations set by their teachers.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge – As a facilitator and technology leader, I have to know that teachers and students must have clear directions. The expectations must be clearly
stated, as well as the expected outcomes and products. This is the only way to ensure success.
Skills – I have to be able to work with teachers to plan research-based, technology enhanced lessons. I also have to be well equipped to model what is
expected, and help teachers do so for their students as well.
Dispositions – Forming positive relationships is very important. Due to the relationship formed, teachers and students will be more willing to meet, and even
exceed, expectations. Having a positive disposition also opens the doors for stakeholders to come to you for support.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
Participating in this field experience impacted student learning. The work students were required to complete was relevant and rigorous, creating a great
learning environment. Students were challenged mathematically, but because the curriculum was hands on and relatable, they rose the occasion. Impact can
be assessed through student surveys and quantile growth score.
