Download MG Flasher from the Play Store or App Store for free and connect to your vehicle using an
ENET Wi-Fi adapter (or cable if you prefer); please refer to our User Manual for details on connecting to
your vehicle. Once connected, press “Check for Support” to automatically check if your ECU requires
bench unlocking services. If your ECU requires a bench unlock, please contact the closest Authorized
Dealer who can provide this service by looking on our dealer map: https://www.mgflasher.com/dealer-
locator/.
Many different MG1 Aurix ECU bootloaders (BTLD) will be flash-able in MG Flasher (depending if server
files are available). A handful of different bootloader IDs are already added (48DC, 4295 and 5D53) but
to determine the security level (and bench unlocking is required) the version numbers are more
important. You can determine the ID and version numbers in MG Flasher App (during first connect, or
“Diagnostic Page” -> “Read ECU”) and through E-sys.
The following bootloader versions are supported (sorted by increasing BTLD version numbers):
The app provides many fail-safe methods during flashing, and one of them is to detect if the ECU is
unlockable via OBD. If it must be unlocked on the bench, we have enabled 3rd party unlock detection for
greater compatibility with different bench tools. Magic Motorsport’s excellent FLEX tool is available for
MG Flasher Authorized Dealers to purchase and use with our exclusive built-in unlocking method. MG
Flasher’s unlock is unique and provides excellent features:
UPDATE: As of around July 2020, Bosch and BMW have updated their ECU hardware to further increase
security against any methods of unlocking or tuning. Current universal methods for OBD and bench
flashing has been entirely blocked on this new hardware revision. We are not aware of any companies
who have successfully unlocked and flashed these ECUs (as of January 2021). MG Flasher plans to tackle
this global problem over the coming months. Soon we will add detection to differentiate the newest
ECU hardware and inform users in app when they have connected to a blocked ECU.
