Field Observation
The school's motto is “Together, working for a brighter tomorrow” it inspires students
to work together in order to have a successful future. It shows students how to work with other
students and help other students. The school's mission is Through collaboration and engagement,
we build relationships with students, families and the community to drive academic and social
growth. I love how they include the community into most of their activities. They really care
what parents have to say and they allow the parents to get involved with the school. The school's
tone is very cheerful but they also want their students to become successful self beings and be
All I have to say is that my field observation was amazing. It was a great experience. I
enjoyed every second of it! I love how I got to experience teaching and learning how students
engage in a classroom. The first day that I started my field observation the teacher allowed me to
look at her lesson plan for the day. The first thing she does is go over yesterday’s work which is
sort of like a review. Then she’ll start with rug time (the whole group) . She starts by telling them
that they will do vocabulary with flashcards. She'll have the students read out the word and then
read out the sound of the word. After she’ll write out new words onto her easel and have students
read it out loud and sound out the letters. Students will go to their special for the day, that day the
students had a library. While the students are in the library the teachers usually meet up to
discuss the students progress with the lesson they learned the day before. They’ll come back
from specials and she will do rug time to introduce the assignment to the students and explain

how to do it. Then the students will go off by themselves or with a partner to finish the
worksheet. In the meantime she will be doing a reading group with other students. Then she
allows her students to do stations and basically everything repeats itself with the next subject
which is math.
There were a couple struggling children. She had a couple ELL students and an autistic
child in her classroom, she would receive help from other teachers. They would come into the
classroom and help her with them. A teacher would focus on the child with autistic disabilities
and focus majorly on her so she could concentrate and do her assignments. The other students
would get taken out of class to work on their ELL disabilities. This allowed me to see how each
student reacts and participates in the classroom. I really saw how a classroom works and how a
teacher teaches and implements her lessons to students. It really helped me learn and taught me
how to help my future students with any disabilities or issues that may be occurring. I’m glad I
got to see the “bad days” because it gave me a real point of view because now I know that
teaching isn’t always going to be super easy, there will be days that are going to be hard but as
