READING
Read the article about Hugh Jackman. Then complete the sentences (1–5) with a word from the arti-
cle. An example (0) has been done for you.

Hugh Jackman
Most people know Hugh Jackman for his movie work. He can act very well and was in many famous
movies – he played Wolverine in X-Men and P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman. He is Australian
and was born in Sydney in 1968. His parents are English but they moved to Sydney just before he was
born. Hugh started to act when he was in high school but decided to go to the University of Technol-
ogy Sydney to study Communications. He only took acting in his final year because he needed an ex-
tra subject. He got a lot of work because he was a talented actor. His first TV job was on a show called
Correlli in 1995, and his first movie was Paperback Hero in 1999. The next year, he got the part of
Wolverine in X-Men. This was when he became famous all over the world. After this part, Hugh de-
cided to take different parts because he didn’t just want to do action movies. He also did romantic
comedies and thrillers. He was able to show people that he can do other things. Hugh doesn’t just act.
He can sing and dance, too. He started at the theater and then made two musicals: Les Misérables
and The Greatest Showman. Most people think his singing and dancing in these movies are amazing.
In his free time, Hugh loves playing sports and played rugby and cricket at school. He was good at
swimming, too, and was on the school team. He can also play the violin, piano and guitar. Finally, he
enjoys doing yoga. So is there anything he can’t do? Well, maybe. Hugh says there are many things.
One thing is that he finds it hard to say ‘no’.
