Concordance
Key points for basic concordance:
1. Login and switch to the new interface.
2. Select a corpus and the required Language.
3. The size of the Corpus may affect the search speed so it is a good idea to use a small
corpus while learning to use a Concordance.
4. Select Concordance and on the basic tab type a word or phrase.
5. If you type lemma the basic type of the word this search will automatically include all
form of the word.
6. You can allow a random word in between with the sign (*) e.g. do*cooking. (*) Stands
for any number of characters.
Basic:
On the basic tab type, the word or phrase.
Lemma search:
The lemma search will find all word forms that belongs to the lemma. You can limit the search
to only one part of speech if needed.
Phrase search:
The phrase search can take several words and result will only content what is typed . This is
different from simple search.
Word search:
The word option will find a word form exactly as typed.
Character search:
The character search will look for a character or a sequence of characters inside a word.
CQL search:
The CQL search is used for complex criteria. It can combine all previous searches into one to
find lexical patterns without specifying concrete words such as all nouns not preceding by an
article but followed by a verb in the past tense. There is a separate steam cast about CQL search
to search unspecified characters you can use wild cards in the simple search and regular
expressions in the other searches. Regular expression is a complex system for setting detailed
criteria. You can restrict the search to only certain part of the corpus called sub corpora.
