Engineering Bulletin 1-2011

Date: January 19, 2011

Subject: Important Design Modification Alert for Betts Internal Air Valves

Internal Air Emergency Valves produced since approximately January, 21, 2011
utilize a bearing ring (75656TR or 75656TR001) as an essential part of the
design. The bearing ring enhances the performance of the seals and will extend
the service life of the valve.

If a valve being rebuilt is of a previous version which does not have the provision
for the bearing ring, it is recommended to upgrade to the new style of o-ring
holder to allow for this bearing ring to be installed.

The following kits are available to upgrade specific valves:

EV75657ALFS or EV75657ALVT: 3” internal air valves

EV75658ALFS or EV75658ALVT: 4” internal air valves with 3” cylinders
EV75659ALFS or EV75659ALVT: 4” internal air valves with 4” cylinders
EV75660ALFS or EV75660ALVT: 6” x 4” internal air valves

These bearing ring kits include the o-ring holder, main seal, air seal, product
seal, bearing ring, and retaining ring. Any other seals can be purchased
individually or as seal kits. See Betts catalog for details.
