CAVITE-BRIEF DESCRIPTION

• Cavite got its name from the Filipino word ”


Kawit,” which means hook, owing to the
hook-shaped land on the old Spanish map.
The land formerly known as “Tang way”
was where the Spanish authorities
constructed a fort on which the city of
Cavite rose. Archeological evidence in
coastal areas shows prehistoric
settlements.

• The province of Cavite abounds with great


objects, and subjects, of culture and history.
It is the birthplace of a good number of
Filipino heroes and it has an interesting
range of sites associated with the
Philippine Revolution of 1896..
CAVITE-BRIEF HISTORY

• According to local folklore, the earliest settlers of


Cavite came from Borneo. In the1600s,
“encomienda's” or Spanish royal land grants were
given in Cavite and Maragondon. Jesuit priests
brought in settlers from Moluccas. These people,
known as Mardicas, settled in Ternate and
Maragondon.

• On August 25, 1896, when the revolution against


Spain broke out, Cavite became a bloody theater
of war. Led by Emilio Aguinaldo, Caviteños made
lightning raids on Spanish headquarters, and
soon liberated the entire province. Aguinaldo
commanded the Revolution to its successful end:
the proclamation of the first Republic in Asia, the
Republic of the Philippines, on June 12, 1898, in
Kawit.

• Those who live in Cavite are called Caviteños.


• It’s warm and friendly people, whose ancestors fought for a noble cause, manifest industry
and patience in various skills and .
• One of the attitude of a Caviteño is being brave. They fight for their right and maybe they can
apply it when buying.

COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY

Cavite’s 805,800-strong labor force comprises 54.12% of the provincial


household population, 15 years old and above, and most of them are in
agriculture, forestry, fishing, tourism, trade, and industry.
Underemployment rate is 9.66% while literacy rate stands at high 98%,
making the province a reliable source of proficient, skilled, and semi-
skilled labor force.

HOW TO GET THERE ?

 When you want to get from Manila to Cavite, you have a few options to consider.
Traveling between these destinations is possible by different means of transport such as
Flight, Bus and Taxi

 If you are looking for a quick trip, it is recommended that you use Bus. However, if you
would rather take your time with a slower, more affordable travel option, you can book a
Flight ticket. The cost of travel will depend on the means of transport you choose for your
trip. A flight ticket is the most expensive option - it will cost you about ₱ 108,821. If you
want to save on transportation, it is better to take a bus as a bus ticket costs as low as ₱

Imus Cathedral is one of the historical


churches in the Philippines. The ceiling,
structure and precious relics are proof
of its historic significance. Cathedral of
Our Lady of Pillar popularly called, as

Cavite especially when it is October 12.
The reason is that Our Lady of the Pillar
and Saint John the Baptist are the
patron saints in Imus City which they

Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine

The shrine is the home of the


country’s first president, Gen. Emilio
Aguinaldo. It is also here where he

fan of Gen. Aguinaldo.

BALITE FALLS

Balite Falls is one of the newly


discovered hidden tourist spots in
Cavite. It’s a small waterfall, roughly
10 feet high. But it has an entrancing
pool with crystal-clear waters. If
you’re up for a thrill, try jumping from
the top of the falls to the pool. Just
make sure you’re an expert swimmer.

TAGAYTAY PICNIC GROVE

This is one of the best places to go to if you


want a nice view of Taal Volcano and lake.
Entrance fee is Php 35 for parking, plus Php
50 per head. There are lots of shops where
you can buy souvenirs, and cottages for
rent if you're on a picnic. Otherwise you can
simply dine at some of the eateries in the
area. There's also a Ferris wheel and zipline.
The viewing deck gives you a great view of
Taal Volcano and lake. There's also an area
for horseback riding. All in all, Picnic Grove
is a nice place to visit. However, their toilets
and payment area need a lot of upkeeping.
