BAB Witchy Gnome v1

WITCHY

GNOME
HAT SPECS INSTRUCTIONS
FINISHED SIZE: 6” (15 cm) tall Starting with a provisional cast on, work the cone of the hat from the bottom up.
x 6.5” (16.5 cm) wide After finishing the cone of hat, return to the provisional cast on edge to work the
hat’s brim.
GAUGE 4 sts = 1” (2.5 cm) in
stockinette, knit in the round. Set Up
With contrasting color scrap yarn and using the provisional cast on method of your
choice, cast on 36 sts. Divide sts evenly on dpns.

HAT Materials With HC, k18, pm, k to end. Then, join in the round, placing a marker to indicate
NEEDLES BOR.
US 4 (3.5 mm) dpns or size to fit
gauge HAT CROWN
Rounds 1 - 7: Knit to end, sm as you work.
YARN 45 y (42 m) bulky yarn
yarn in HC of choice
HAT POINt

+ Scrap yarn
+ Darning needle Cut a 6” (15 cm) long tail and using a darning needle, thread yarn through live
+ Pipe cleaner in HC stitches, cinch, and secure end. Weave tail into the inside of the hat.

Return to the base of the hat at the provisional cast on edge. Remove provisional cast

M1R make one right (1 st inc) Round 2: K to end, sm as you work.
P purl Round 3: *K1, m1R, k10, m1L, k1, sm; rep from * 5 more times. (84 sts)

Round 4: K to end, sm as you work.
PM place marker
ssk slip, slip, knit (1 st inc) Cast off all sts, secure end, and weave in tail. To keep brim of hat from rolling, attach
SM slip marker a pipe cleaner to the underside of the edge of the brim. Use a length of yarn in the
st(s) stitch(es) HC and secure the pipe cleaner to the hat with a sewing whip stitch or prefered
sewing method.

FINISHED SIZE Using BC and your pom pom maker, create a very full pom pom. Do not overtrim the
10” (25 cm) circumference pom pom as gnomes tend to have shaggy beards.

ASSEMBLE GNOME
LEGS
Attach leg to pom pom by running a 6” (15 cm) length of HC yarn through the top of
