SECTION A (10x1=10)
1. A is a matrix of order 3x5 and R is one of the rows of A, then what is the order of
matrix R?
4. Find the solution of the linear Inequality in x represented on number line as:

8. Fill in the blank:
In a LPP, if the objective function Z= ax+𝑏y has same maximum value on two corner
points of the feasible region, then every point on the line segment joining these two
points give the same …………………value.
10.
SECTION B (4x2=8)
11. Solve the following inequality:
|3𝑥| ≥ |6 − 3𝑥|
𝑥 + 2𝑦 −𝑦 −4 3
12. Find the values of x and y so that the matrices [ ] and [ ] are

SECTION C (4x3=12)
15. Two products A and B are produced such that 0.4 ton of A and 0.7 ton of B are
required to produce one ton of A. Similarly, 0.1 ton of A and 0.6 ton of B are
required to produce one ton of B. Write down the technology matrix. If 68 tons of
A and 102 tons of B are required, find out the gross production of both the
products.

An economy consists of two interdependent industries steel and lumber. It takes
0.1 unit of steel and 0.5 unit of lumber to make one unit of steel. It takes 0.2 units
of steel and 0 unit of lumber to make one unit of lumber. The economy will export
16 units of steel and 8 units of lumber next month. How many units of steel and
lumber will they need to produce to meet the external demand?

SECTION D (2x5=10)
19. A manufacturer has three machines I, II and III installed in his factory. Machines I
and II are capable of being operated for at most 12 hours whereas machine III
must be operated at least 5 hours a day. He produces only two items M and N each
requiring the use of all the three machines. The number of hours required for
producing 1 unit of each of M and N on the three machines are given in the
following table:
He makes a profit of ₹600 and ₹400 on each item of M and N respectively. How
many units of each item should he produce so as to maximize his profit assuming that
he can sell all the items that he produced? What will be the maximum profit?
