CRISIS AT FORTIS.

Fortis Healthcare Limited is a leading integrated healthcare delivery service provider in

India. The healthcare verticals of the company primarily comprise hospitals, diagnostics and
day care specialty facilities. Currently, the company operates its healthcare delivery services
in India, Dubai and Sri Lanka with 36 healthcare facilities (including projects under
development), approximately 9,000 potential beds and over 415 diagnostics centres.
In a global study of the 30 most technologically advanced hospitals in the world, its flagship,
the Fortis Memorial Research Institute’ (FMRI), was ranked No.2, by
‘topmastersinhealthcare.com, and placed ahead of many other outstanding medical
institutions in the world.
Fortis Hospital has taken up a 4 month-long initiative to conduct COVID-19 screening for
BBMP workers, in addition to the regular patients who come in. The screening comprises a
temperature check, BP, GRBS, and pulse by the paramedical staff. The effort would help
identify the initial signs of COVID-19.
Additionally, they would also be educated on the importance of adopting hygiene measures,
such as washing and sanitizing hands, avoiding touching of the face, and wearing a mask
when on duty in order to avoid spreading of the virus.
While all this shows Fortis in an extremely nice public perspective, the dark secrets are
slowly coming out.
The management and doctors in a hospital are involved in a very dark play, and they are
comfortable with it because it is allowing them to line their pockets with money.
The nurses on the other hand won’t remain silent about the activities happening at Fortis.
They have begun to leak information to newspapers and investigative media, telling them
about the following details:
1. Many of the patients who are tested for covid are given false positives.
To quote, “About two thirds of the individuals who test negative for the corona virus
are shown as positive and are admitted in the hospital immediately”
2. The hospital is using this as a reason to show extremely high demand and is thus
raising the price of treatment at the hospital.
3. The hospital receives a certain amount of medication and equipment from the
government at a subsidised rate in the name of helping humanity. However, the
hospital goes on to sell this medication and equipment on the black market, creating
a major increase in their revenue stream.
The public has acquired this information and there is an absolute uproar on social and news
media. Not only is the hospital fleecing the people who come there to get themselves
tested, they are depriving those individuals who actually have the corona virus and are in
dire need of the right treatment and care.
A petition is going around being signed and spread all across the country for the launch of a
CBI probe, which is very likely to succeed.
You as a representative of Fortis management are required to do the following:
1. Work in sync with your management to present a statement to the press.
2. Ensure you calm down the public in order to avoid the launch of this probe.
3. Come up with underhand methods to continue the illegal operations.
NOTE: You know for a fact that all these facts leaked are 100% true, your actions are to be
based on that.

UPDATE 1:
Your hospital is having a higher mortality rate. The average mortality rate in hospitals in
India is 22%. Your hospital is reporting a death rate of 47%, easily more than double.
Your actions to calm the public so far have proven to be futile, incorporate a defence for this
new piece of information in your statement.

UPDATE 2:
A recent article went viral regarding illegal trade of organs on the black market. Fortis has
been named clearly in the article. According to it, the organs are harvested from the
patients and this is what attributes to the extremely high death rates.
The situation is extremely distressing at Fortis, your deliverable of avoiding the CBI probe is
more important than ever because not only will this be the end of the organisation, it will be
jail time.
Will you cut your losses and expose the members involved or will you brave through this
period of difficulty and come out on top?
