We use Conditional Sentence for Presupposition (Kalimat Pengandaian).

There are 3 types of Conditional Sentences:
1. Type 1 : Possible 100 %
2. Type 2 : Probable 50 %
3. Type 3 : Imposible 0 %

I. Conditional SentenceType 1, Possible 100 %

Conditional Sentence consists of two clauses , Main clause and Sub clause.
In conditional Sentence we are going to combaining to tenses together. Conditional sentence is
compound sentense.
Main Clause : Future Tense = Result / Effect
Sub Clause : If + Present Simple Tense = Condition/ Cause

We can write and say Main Clause first followed by Sub clause = Manin Clause + Sub Clause
Or Sub Clause first followed by Main Clause = Sub Clause, Main Clause.

In Conditional Sentence the pattern and the meaning of both two sentences must be right.

PATTERN :

A. VERBAL SENTENCE
If clause/Sub clause (condition) Main clause (result)
If + Present Simple Tense The Future Tense
(+) If + S + (V1/V1 +S/ES) + O + adv/adj (+) S + Will + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj
(-) If + S + Don’t/ Doesn’t + Verb 1 +O + adv/adj (-)S + Won’t + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj
(-) If + S + Don’t/ Doesn’t + Verb 1 +O + adv/adj (+) S + Will + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj
(-) If + S + (V1 /V1 +S/ES) + O + adv/adj (-)S + Won’t + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj
(?)If (+) / If (-) (?) Will + S + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj
(?)If (+) / If (-) (?) Q.W + will +S + Verb 1 + O + adv/adj

Will = can = may = shall = must

For question sentence, only Main Clause which can be written in question sentence, and for Sub
Clause can be written in positive sentence or negative sentence.
e.g. :
(+) If you ask me, I will help you.
If you ask me = Sub Clause
You = Subject
Ask = Verb 1
Me = Object
I will help you = Main Clause
I = Subject
Will = modal
Help = Verb 1
Me = Object

(-) If you don’t ask me, I won’t help you.

(-) If you don’t ask me, I will help you.

(?) If you ask me, will I help you?
If you don’t ask me, will I help you?

B. NOMINAL SENTENCE

Main Clause : Future Tense = Result / Effect

Sub Clause : If + Present Simple Tense = Condition/ Cause

THE PATTERN :

If clause/Sub clause (condition) Main clause (result)

If + Present Simple Tense The Future Tense
(+) If + S + am/is/are + O /adv/adj (+) S + Will + be + O / adv/adj
(-) If + S + am/is/are + not + O/ adv/adj (-) S + Won’t + be + O / adv/adj
(-) If + S + am/is/are + not + O/ adv/adj (+) S + Will + be + O / adv/adj
(+) If + S + am/is/are + O /adv/adj (-) S + Won’t + be + O / adv/adj
(?) If (+) / If (-) (?) Will +S +be + O / adv/adj
(?) If (+) / If (-) (?) Q.W + will +S + be + O / adv/adj

(?) If you are a nice guy, will I be happy?
If you’re not a nice guy, will I be sad?
(?) If you are a nice guy, why will I be happy?
If you aren’t a nice guy, why will I be sad?
