This is respectfully provide you feedback report of the above-mentioned activity below are the
salient points:
1. That the Day 1 activity started at 9:00 am. Opening prayer, national anthem and introduction of
participants and resource speakers was the first part. Followed by the inspiration message
coming from Mr. Lani Bayron- Llanes (Executive Director of ACTION) and Mr. Vicente Gregorio B.
Tomas (Regional Director).
2. That activity topic was devided into four modules which are (1) SELF AWARENESS (2) Child’s
Rights Perspective (3) Organizational Awareness and (4) Exernal Awareness that was presented
by Mr. Danilo Bagsic, Jr.RSW, MPM (Project Officer, ACTION INC.)
4. That on Child’s Rights Perspective discussed about Human Rights, The Convention on the Rights
of the Child and Selected Laws on the Protection of the Children. Objectives, discussion and
synthesis of this topic was also elaborated. Difference between needs versus rights were also
discussed on this activity. Right Holder and the Duty Bearer were also explained. Acquiring a
child’s perspective is important for all staff members in a residential care facility. This serves as a
good foundation for having the rights attitude and behavior in dealing with the residents.
5. That organizational awareness was about understanding the importance of our vision, mission,
goals, values, policies, program/ services and organizational structure that were being
implemented in our facility or center. It was said that the role of a house parent is important as
part of a working team in a multi-disciplinary environment. We also learned that house parents
and residents play a big role on improvement of services and programs provided in a residential
care facility.
6. That external awareness and trends may affect the residents, staff and the whole facility.
Organizational awareness and external awareness are related to each other. It is important that
HP’s are aware of these factors that may possible affects the organization.
7. That Custodial Care (Module 5) and Behavioral Management was discussed by Ms. Evangeline
Grace Balais (ACTION Region III, Head of Operations). Children in Need of Special Protection
(CNSP) are children who are victims of (1) abused (2) neglect (3) discrimination (4) armed
conflict and many others.
8. That there are six (6) ways of positive discipline. There are also two (2) parts of consequences
which are Natural and Logical Consequences. Communication is key to solve a problem. There
are three (3) Phases on Crisis Intervention which are (1) Pre- Crisis phase (2) Crisis Response
Phase (3) Post- Crisis Phase
9. That in Safety and Security it is important to identify and demonstrate techniques in responding
to hazards and disaster. It was facilitated by Mr. Jonathan Palanca (HP, Heaven for Children). It is
important to identify the efforts of both houseparent and facility in ensuring safety and security
of the residents.
10. That there is different administrative record that should be kept. There are many operational
risks to consider in keeping records. Incident, anecdotal, inventory and other record should be
done and kept by houseparent.
11. That I am willing to share what I’ve learned in this topic to my co HP’s. Also, I am recommending
some from this training to implement in the center.
